Tuesday, Nov. 22nd..sunny and cool here in WI. Two more of the "offerings" that have been hiding in the rubbermaid tote.
I think that years ago, they were the beginning of a Christmas sampler...and that's probably why they are still just blocks. Their new life purpose has been guessed by Tonya...LOL....they will become a yuletide orphans quilt...Little Matchgirl in the Snow...but with a happier ending. Remember the quilt I posted a week ago Sunday??....the Fragments quilt from the early 1900's? Many orphan blocks in that one, plus lots of "crumbs" ala Bonnie and mile a minute ala Finn. That quilt is still on my mind as I decide about these blocks... I think the cut off triangles from the Pineapple Blossom will "bloom" and find a home among these new orphans.

Oh, what a beautiful way to showcase a flower. What a great idea. I can just see hibiscus flowers framed in batiks.

Thank you for sharing the beautiful blocks.

Aloha,
Darilyn

Sounds like your yuletide quilt is half-way done already!

You have been having too much fun digging in the tote! I wanna come up to your place and dig in your tote -- so much more fun than the old stuff I have! (Well, I don't know, the tote is buried and I have too many projects that have to be done before I can unearth it!) Love your orphans -- bet they'll make a great quilt!

thanks for showing all the blocks as you begin to play around with them - that's my favorite thing: seeing a quilt come together.

That last photo of the flower in the center is magnificent! What a showcase of a quilt patch...summertime all year round *smile*...you know, when I put the *s* that could stand for 'sigh' also?? Back to fun things...while my son is at Walmart buying me some Crisco ( just a tad...unwillingly, but he's doing it anyway for me = ))...I really am impressed with the Gene Stratton-Porter site you left the URL for. Thankyou Finn for sharing that. What a gem of a site. I bookmarked it and plan to return yet today. That was a pleasant surprise. Did you know that in her book..'At the Foot of the Rainbow'..there is 'A Little Story of Her Life and Work'..about 40 pages of interesting information. Like.." Her Mother's health, which had always been perfect, broke about the time of the author's first remembrance due to typhoid fever contracted after nursing 3 of her children through it. she lived several years, but with continual suffering, amounting at times to positive torture. So, it happened, that led by implulse.......she followed her father and the boys afield, and when tired out slept on their coats in fence corners, often awaking with shy creatures peering into her face." If you've never read this story, I've just whet your reading appetite perhaps. Oh how I love an excellent book!! I never tire of singing their praises. Philippians 4:8 'whatsoever things are pure...think on these things. Wishing you the happiest of Thanksgivings dear Finn with your precious family!
