WIP Wednesday...one day late

Here's my latest WIP...a new project begun over Christmas. I've been sewing up odds and ends of 2.5" strips and squares to make 4 patches.Mostly I want to NOT have so many left overs from making several of Bonnie's Bargello tops.
So I'm making 2 & 2 4 patches(which match) and setting those aside for one of Gypsy Quilters Kitchen Sink tops. With the odd sets(half a 4 patch)I'm setting them aside to use in THIS top. I've cut up a yard plus of the dark blue VIP into 4.5" squares, and the quilt will be whatever size it gets to before the VIP squares run out...LOL It's going to be a fairly dark looking top, but that's ok I think.
And here is one of the Kissy dolls I own....or she owns me. This is one of the original outfits, with it's ribbon in good condition. The shoes are NOT original, and this particular doll NEVER wore socks. It's interesting how some people selling them don't know that...LOL
I've loved hearing about dolls from some of you, my readers, I hope others may show pictures of some of their treasures if they have them.
Quick post today, I get to go to Betsy's house after lunch and meet her new granddaughter *VBS* See you later!

Other pieces from my scrapbag today...

and a very special, heartfelt THANK YOU to YOU, my dear, dear blogger friends, pals and companions. In my heart, there is no distance between us *VBS*With the wonders of our modern age, not only memories can span the miles and years...pictures can too. This lovely Christmas Day portrait of DD#1 and her little family came zipping across the miles last evening. And a couple pictures of that DGD opening my gift to her. She wasn't with her Dad and my DD on Monday, they got to pick her up on Tuesday morning *VBS*. She's 16 now and getting to be quite the beauty.
Since my doll pictures and memories touched a soft spot for many of you, I'm going to give you a BIG grin *VBG* and a few more. This little darling is Sparkle Plenty, the baby daughter of Dick Tracy. She came to my house on Christmas of 1947, along with a stuffed Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Both were special to me, but alas, they met the fate of my other toys. Sparkle Plenty was made with a new "magic" skin, which turned out to be a disaster. It blacked and got hard over the years. It's rare to find a doll that still looks this good. This is an eBay photo. I didn't bid on the doll, but was delighted to find a picture of her.
Another Ebay photo, and more dolls that I couldn't possibly afford. I recieved the one in the back row, dressed in a blue fleece snowsuit in 1945. "He" was my most favorite doll ever, I think. The dolls had a simulated 'real' hair, and it was called "caracul". I have a couple more ebay pictures of them, but the dolls are hard to find and went well over $200. I'm happy to have found pictures.
These little darlings look like toddlers. They are the "Kissy" doll from 1961-1965. My youngest sister got one for Christmas in 1961. I've had hers for years and years, altho NOT in the original clothes. A few years back, in a moment of foolish weakness, I decided to 'collect' Kissy dolls. Trust me...not a wise move for someone in limited house space. They wear size 12-24 months clothes, and take up more room than you'd imagine. I quit with about 25. I have several in original boxes, and original clothes. They came in s variety of outfits, and are NOT hard to find on ebay. They also came in a 16" size, altho I collect the larger ones. They are moderately priced. They were made by Mattel, but only for 4 years.
And last but not least, this little cutie is "Baby Small Talk". My Dad gave DD#1 a doll just like this one for Christmas the year she was one..1968. Apparently HE really liked the doll because he gave her another one(exactly the same) for her second birthday....LOL. They got passed along to relatives, but I've purchased two more on Ebay, and for now, they live on my dresser.
Even if you don't have the dolls you loved as a child, it's kind of neat to go looking for them. There are lots of doll sites on the internet, it just takes a "google" or a visit to Ebay...happy browsing *VBS*

Christmas past....

It's been a very odd sort of day today...not quite like any thing I've experienced before. I've spent most of Christmas Eve and all of Christmas Day alone, except for Ebony. I've tried hard not to slip into that 'place' where all the ghosts of Christmas Past come calling, but I guess with 67 Christmases behind me, it's easier said than done. This very faded picture from 1946 is a window into a sad Christmas past. My baby brother had been born and died in December of 1945. It didn't stop Christmas from coming...and also a baby from the WI Welfare Dept. for my Mom to take care of . They took the baby away in mid December of 1946, as a new baby was due to be born at our house in 1947. There were presents under the tree for me, but not much visibility of parents. A quiet and lonely Christmas. The doll in the picture is a Candy Kid, made by the Effenbee Co in 1946. I got one dressed in pink that Christmas and another dressed in blue for my birthday the Oct. of 1947.
This is an original Candy Kid doll, the picture is from Ebay. I didn't win that auction, but I kept the picture. The original dolls were composition material, and didn't hold up well over the years. They chipped very badly. IF you can find one to bid on,it will be very expensive.
This is a reproduction Candy Kid doll. The company used the original molds(but cast the doll in a resin type material)in 1996 and produced a limited edition for the 50 year anniversary. I bid on and won a doll dressed in pink, and another in an original(reproduction) box. This one(in blue)isn't mine, but another picture from Ebay. I'm sad that I don't have my original dolls, the 2 Candy Kids and others from over the years. My Mom decided they should go to needy families. I was not consulted before hand, and it's too late once the toy is in the hands of another child.
This was our tree from Christmas, 1951. I know that because I had turned 11 in Oct and was getting too big for dolls. But Santa brought me one anyway...a blond one for me, a dark haired one for my 4 yr old sister. Our baby sister was 6 months at Christmas. I have a Kodak picture of the 3 of us, on the couch, with the 2 large dolls.
And this one is probably 1953...I don't remember much detail about most childhood Christmases...just a glimspe here and there.
Finn Family DIDN'T get to gather on Sunday. The Grinch, or someone, stole Christmas and kept it from coming. Heavy, heavy snow and then dropping temps and high winds kept my kids and grandkids with their home fires burning. As it turns out, there was misery all across the nation, weatherwise. 19 deaths are blamed on the Storm that roared through the midwest and up across the eastern seaboard. What can you do? What can you say? Better luck next year? Nope...we aren't going to try this again. In the multitude of phone calls that resulted from the storm, it was decided that WE are MOVING Christmas to another month entirely...! Probably Christmas in July or maybe in September....but NO MORE of this 'weather dance'.
Yesterday was clear, sunny and bright....and I'm happy for all who were delayed in their air and road travel. Today is overcast, but basically clear and moderate. Of course all of my fkids had other plans for yesterday and today.
DD#1 and her sweet DH came driving in about 9, bringing presents and breakfast! It was wonderful to get to see one of my kids at least, and after a few hours visit, they were on their way again.
Today I was suppose to have Christmas Dinner with friend Jean, but on Saturday she fell victum to the season flu that is going around. She called today to say I could still come if I wanted to, but of course she is in NO shape to eat what she would be cooking. I declined and stayed home *VBS* Better for both of us that way.
I've NOT been sad today, or depressed....just rather confused by such an odd set of circumstances....wondering how, after all these years, and so many people in my life, I managed to be completely alone this Christmas....LOL.
I've watched Christmas movies and sorted Orphan blocks, and reminded myself often that there are MANY, MANY people in the world who are alone most of the time. Whether due to life style, circumstances, or choice.... I'm not the only one. And I'm ok, warm, safe and I have Ebby for company! And so I wish a Merry Christmas to one and all, around the world. May a year of peace, joy and good fortune be yours. Hugs for everyone, Finn

Sisters?...sisters...

"...there were never such devoted sisters...". Anybody been watching the old Bing Crosby movie "White Christmas"? I have, and of course that song keeps running through my head *VBS*We are sisters...but devotion wasn't part of the picture, in any sense of the word. I was almost 7 when my middle sister was born, in 1947. I don't remember welcoming her with open arms. By 1951, when sister #2 came along, I was nearly 11 and DEFINITELY did NOT want another sister(or brother for that matter. Much falls to us oldest daughters...too much in my opinion.
Being so much older, I was grown and out of the home while my middle sister was in the early grades. My youngest sister was 7 when I married. I had little to no part of their growing up. That probably explains alot. Or maybe I wasn't a natural born caregiver.
But sewing is what is on my mind today. I come from a maternal background of NON-SEWERS. My Mom didn't even do buttons or patches on my Dad's pants..he did them himself.
My belowed Gram Lottie, who lived with us, didn't sew either. Neither she nor my Mom did any kind of needlework. I was the kid at school with store bought mittens, and longed for a pair of homemade ones. I finally got them from a friend at age 46. I still have them and treasure them....I was very much a lost kitten with no mittens, but I have some now.
I had a disasterous 9 weeks of sewing in 7th grade. I was in a Jr. High setting and we got 9 weeks each of cooking, sewing, art and something else I've forgotten. We made a gathered skirt. I blew it on day ONE by buying a border print fabric, which obviously could only go ONE WAY. I got reamed out royally by the teacher. The skirt was a horrid disaster that I NEVER wore beyond class.
And again in 8th grade....9 weeks of sewing. We made fitten(tailored) blouses. I chose pale blue. I suppose it turned out ok but I hated it!! I never wore it either.
After that I was on my own....no sewing for this artsy gal....only drawing and painting...ya!!
But that was at age 12 and 13. The summer I was approaching 15, I began to realize I needed more clothes than my parents were able to provide for me. I begged shamelessly and my Dad bought me a sewing machine. A nice little machine- about $50- from the local furniture store, Mason's. They put their own brand on it and Dad even bought me the cabinet for it. I figured out that I could make a soft pleats skirt with about the same yardage as a gathered one(which looked terrible on me), and I did. I put in the zipper and put on the waistband, following a simple skirt pattern. Next I tried a sleeveless pull over the head blouse with neck and armhole facings. It zipped on one side to give it shape. Now I could have a full cotton skirt and blouse to match for summer dating *VBS*. I never looked back. I sewed for myself a fair amount off and on through high school. After I married(at 18) I made curtains and then moved on to make nighties, slacks, shorts, dresses and even coats. I taught myself to knit and to crochet. I even learned to cook....LOL
But that sewing machine from my Dad, back in 1954 or '55 is what really changed the course of my life. I became accomplished at something that meant something to me. Not the same as taking shorthand or typing 60 words per minute.
For most of my married life, I made nearly all the clothes I wore for work and then baby clothes and much of my childrens clothes.
Quilting didn't figure into my life(other than sewing squares together) until 1977 when an elderly aunt got me started piecing a quilt by hand. A few years later and another move across the state, brought me to a friend who taught quilting. I signed up for a sampler class, and was almost immediately in trouble for not doing things "by the book". I've never looked back. I credit her for getting me on the path of 1/4" seam allowances and having triangles that actually have "points"(for the most part...LOL) She taught me the hand quilting part, which is my true love...running the stitches....line after line. There is a passion involved, just ask Tonya, or anyone who is a "hand quilter". There's nothing quite like it...I suppose applique comes close, but quilting gives you the 'definition' of light and shadow. The depth your eye sees when you look at a quilt.
I've been sorely missing my sewing time this week. It tends to make me a bit grumpy. And while I am truly looking forward to my children and grandchildren gather at my home....part of me is just itching to get back to my projects *VBS* Happy December 20th everyone.....shortest day of the year tomorrow....we'll be turning towards the light again soon.

Heading into the Christmas countdown...

and no less busy than last week. I'm a busy country mouse these days. I have 21 people coming to my house on the 23rd...oh my!! All 5 of my children, their partners and alllllll those grandsons and a couple of others too! I think we will be bursting at the seams! And since a post just isn't hardly a post without a picture....this one will have to do! We've got a fun new blog over at Sew Prim Khris...an Aussie gal who want to do it ALL! Welcome to blogland Khris! Her blog was bigger but she somehow lost part of it in a flying-finger deleting session. I had almost NO computer time since late last week, so please forgive me if I haven't been by to see what you are up to.....I probably won't have much time until after the 23rd. That is OUR family gathering....and then the kids and partners scatter to the four winds for other celebrations.
I'm excited to have them ALL coming, but I'm also looking forward to afterwards...getting back to my quiet life and lots of sewing! It's HARD not to take time to sew each day!! Hope all is going well with all of you as the holiday draws near. Betsy tells me that the kids are taking the Amtrak back to WI for over the holiday...and she'll have Baby R. all to herself this time...LOL...she's already had a taste of having to share with the other grandparents, and found it not to her liking. Sounds like she's off to a good start as a grandma!

Saturday Sightings...no sign of St. Nick tho...

We are welcoming my friend Betsy to the ranks of "Grandparent" *VBS* She officially became a grandma on the first day of Hannukka...Dec. 5th. What a great little present!Betsy and her brand new granddaughter, R.
First impressions are soooo important..hey, what's with that bright light?
And today, on Dec. 15th, this sweet little DS#2 turned 34...my how time flies! Hope you're having cake today J *VBS*
The mail brought me this lovely block from Sue in Washington State. I have to confess I did beg a bit, quite shamelessly for a scrap of the Ho Ho Ho fabric. Instead I got the whole block to put into my Yuletide Orphans quilt *VBS* Thanks Sue!! You're the TOPS!
And in my new "Last-but-not-least" department...this gorgeous bundle of christmas fabrics from my dear friend in Oregon, Cher *VBS* I'm uncertain why she was clearing out her holiday fabrics, but I'm NOT complaining!!! Love them all, and they certainly will figure into future holiday quilts. Some of the red/greens and for sure the white will be added to my Bonnie's mystery quilt top!
I've been busy, busy, busy...but little to no sewing. Guess that's probably the case for most of us with a holiday to celebrate in 10 days! Hope everyone is having a weekend that is merry and bright, and are safe and warm from all the bad weather hitting the midsection of America.

Checking in on a cloudy Tuesday....

I want to thank everyone for all the lovely snow comments *VBS* And special "thank you!" to you gals who found a link to patterns for jibber, and for a wonderful, heartwarming offer from Paula to knit one for me! *VBS* Paula, you are just the BEST!This is the quilt I made back in the mid 1980's using the 4 patch variation block I showed in Saturday's post. My friend Carol was doing it in plaid shirts fabric, I used scraps. ALL the pieces were template traced, and scissor cut. Took a few evenings *VBS* It's machine pieced and hand quilted 1/4" from each seam.

Part of THE LOOT: Yesterday was a FULL day of shopping with friend Jean. It's such a great help when she drives us. And I can buy more than I would alone, because she always helps me carry everything inside! A portion of what I need for 9 grandsons....LOL. I see wrapping in my future...*VBS*
And still more loot to wrap.. a few little girly things and some stocking stuffers beginning to pile up! Wish me luck!!! Ebby is just sleeping through it all, lucky cat!

Snow, snow, and more snow...plus plaid shirts....

My Mom loved pictures. She loved taking pictures. Not sure that she loved snow, but apparently I did *VBS* Do I still love snow?? Hmmmm...guess I'd say 'yes, but in moderation please'.This one was taken in Dec. of 1941...I was 14 months old. Pretty cold stuff!
And in Dec. of 1943, I had a little neighborhood friend to play with. His name was Billy. He's on the left. I stayed taller than him all the years I knew him.
By 1950 I had grown pretty tall...a whoppin' 5'2". And those are the heavy woolen jacket and snowpants I spoke of in the slidding post.
It was a special occasion day when this was taken. A Christmas visit from my Sunday School teacher, Mrs. Bartz. She was a very special person in my troubled life. I really wished I could live with her, and not at home. Of course that was just my childish wishful thinking *S* I particularily LOVE the little thing on my head in this picture. I wore one of some sort or another every winter. We called them "jibbers"..they were knit, narrower by the lower ears and chin, and got wider as it crossed you head. It did have some shaping up each side. The best year of all was 1953, when as a new teenager, I had a white angora jibber and matching mittons...I was in 'heaven' *VBS* Does anyone out there know of a place I could get a pattern for one of these??????
And my "last-but-not-least" picture for today is quilty!!! A friend's PLAID SHIRTS quilt top, in progress. This was to be a memory quilt for a SIL. The gal's brother had died of cancer, and she took his shirts and made this quilt for his widow. I love that particular block, which is known as a 'four patch variation'. I've done one double bed size quilt of it, in scraps. I think it would also look great in Christmas fabrics. How is everyone coming on their holiday sewing???? Happy Weekend one and all!

A Winter Tale or is it tail???

A new chapter in the ongoing saga of Ebby, a travelin' cat...Many of you are familiar with the story about the journey that brought Ebony to my home to live. You know she's an older cat, that I'm her 3rd home, and that she's extremely fearful of everything. A sense of security has been established in the year+ she has lived here, but it's only a drop in the bucket compared to what life should be for her. ***BUT***mark the calendar!! December 5th was a RED LETTER DAY!! A BIG B for bravery, and an A+ for effort and a gold star for success.
The overnight snow brought the need for shoveling to my walk and patio. And as you know, Ebby has her own special footstool(upholstered no less for cushiony comfort)by the big front window. She has a spectacular 180 degree view of the world outside. And she's a 'watcher'. The birds, the weather, and whatever is happening out there...she watches.
Yesterday the sound of a truck and footsteps in the complex brought her to her stool about 9 a.m. I watched the Walton's with one eye, and Ebony with the other....LOL.
Normally a ringing doorbell, a slammed car door, footsteps on the sidewalk all send her flying for the bedroom and the under bed safety cats need.
But yesterday she sat and watched the blue jean legs of the shoveler walk up my driveway, she watched him shovel by the garage door...and then....I held my breath thinking "ok, now she'll go flying for the bedroom", she watched him begin to shovel the sidewalk. Gosh....he was only about 3+ feet from where she sat...and she watched. Her ears flickered, she looked at me and then back at him..and she kept watching. The walk is short...maybe 8 or 9 feet to the patio. He got closer to the patio...she kept watching. More ear flickerings, but she sat and watched. Oh, oh..the sound changed as he began to clear off the cement slab. He bumped the railing and then the door, just slightly...and still she watched.
By now I am holding my breath and totally ignoring the Walton's...I watched Ebby sit on her stool and watch the guy who shovels. She was still there to watch him cross the street to Rosie's unit. No big deal, you say???? You have no idea how BIG all this really is in the continuing story of Ebby, a travelin' cat. If your furry friend is secure, loving and trusting...give him/her/them a big hug and count your blessings...*VBS*, maybe Ebby and I will get to that place yet *S*

My own winter wonderland...

and if you don't like snow...sorry! Looks like it's here to stay for awhile. The view from my patio...compliments of Sat.'s storm..6".
Gosh, could it be my fault?? I put my "I love snow" snowman by the front door...*VBS* Naw, couldn't be that...
And with December it's time for Frosty. Mine is immune to melting...a bird feeder that the birds don't recognize or accept...oh well, he looks cute on the chair.
Snow means time to get out the old sled. An early 1940's version...very much a one person sled. I spent many, many happy hours on one just like this. A block from my house was the most wonderful sliding hill. The city thought so too, and every winter they blocked off the top and bottom with saw horses and put the old kerosene burning 'pots' at each end of the saw horses. The pots burned brightly in on cold winter nights from early December til the thaw in spring. The hill, you see, was a side street in a quiet neighborhood. Traffic was deferred a block to main street. Kids by the dozens gathered after suppper on cold winter nights to slid and play, warmed by mittons, stocking caps and zip up or buckle boots, heavy snow pants of dark wool, and layers of sweaters under their jackets. We were so well insulated from the cold that the snow clung to our jackets and pants and didn't melt but needed to be brushed away. Our noses got drippy, our eyes watered from the wind and cold, and our cheeks were rosy! It was the grandest of times, that innocent social interaction between boys and girls, neighorhood friends and cousins. We slid solo, or 2,3 or 4 on a sled, sometimes piled 3 or 4 high on our bellies. A topple off into the snow was always a possibility with double-deckers. Our laughter rang out in the cold, clear night, and off in the distance the churches played Christmas carols from their bell towers. It was truly a glorious time in my childhood. I have the very best memories of years and years of sliding on cold winter nights. By 9 p.m., most of us had to trudge home, happy, tired and ready for our jammies. And oh the sweet dreams a child had on nights such as that *VBS*
And of course, since I'm a 'last-but-not-least' mood lately, here is my newest treasure from last weeks thrift store adventure. I collect pitchers... I love cream pitchers(in all sizes) the best!! I got this adorable little guy for only .49!!! On the bottom it says Made in China(stick on tag) and is insized with "1/2 cup" and a pottery logo that I don't recognize. I have only a couple of the 'mouth' pitchers, which makes him all the more special. OK...dishes are done, laundry is washed and dried...now I can sew!!

Super Simple Christmas Square Tutorial..

as promised...here I am *VBS* And here's another super simple table topper you can whip up in just minutes *S*It's pretty, you can make it in any size you'd like or have scraps to fit. It's a 16 patch with borders.

Can you see on this one that it's not an true 8 pointed star? Here are the cutting directions: You need 3 fabrics of good contrast..not much of each.
Cut four (4) 4.5" light squares, and four (4) 4 7/8"(easier to cut 5") light squares.Split the 4.7/8" squares once diagonally to equal 8 triangles.
Cut four(4) 4 7/8" green(or your choice) squares, split them once diagonally.
Cut four(4) 4 7/8"red squares, split them once diagonally. You've now got 4 light squares, 8 light triangles, 8 green triangles and 8 red triangles. Make 4 sets of light/red HST and 4 sets of light/green triangles. Sew the remaining colored triangles to each other, making 4 sets red/green HST. Lay them out as in the picture, matching red to red and green to green. It's incredibly easy...honest! This center part will be about a 16" square using the 4.5" pieces. I add a 3" border bringing the size to about 21". Hollar if you need more help than this *VBS* Believe it or not, this was 'taught' as a bed size quilt...almost unbelievable that someone would use 28 pieces to make an entire quilt top...LOL

Wasting time at BlogThings...

You Are Thanksgiving

You are a bit of a homebody who enjoys being in the company of people you love.
It doesn't take a lot to make you happy. You're enjoying life as it is.
You have many blessings in your life, and you are grateful for each one.
You believe that life is about what you *do* have. You feel like you have enough of the good stuff.

What makes you celebrate: Family, friends, and the changing of the seasons.

At holiday get togethers, you do best as: The host of the party

On a holiday, you're the one most likely to: Spend so much energy preparing that it's a full time job

A Utility Table Runner...finally

**Found the camera!**Right where I left it *VBS* So here's the picture of MY table runner sewn together. I cut my sub sections at 2", rather than the 1.5" in the directions...so I have a bigger runner. It's 20" X 24".I will be adding a border strip to each end..probably a 4.5" strip, and not the green plaid I had thought I might use. It's just too different.
Just for the heck of it, here is a picture of an 'everyday' runner I use under my sewing machine so it doesn't slip on the table surface. Again, it's about 12 yrs old and going strong.
And this is one of the original ones I made 12 years ago...nice that they don't take much yardage to make up.
And last, but NOT least, here is my adorable new gingerbread man from Julie Q *VBS* She sent me the blue fabrics (right behind him)also. They are 'sample' cuts, definitely WINTER...one has snowflakes, two are blue blenders, and one has mittons and hats, the other(and my favorite) with long red underwear and other winter garments ...LOL I've been browsing my books, looking for a little quilt to make using them. Thanks again Julie!! You made my day!
I managed to get around to a few blogs yesterday, and I see that Norma is making a table runner, and that Angie has hers together and is thinking of doing more. If more of you are doing them, do let me know so I can come over and take a peek!

A quiet Sunday.....

and alas...I can't find my camera!! I'm not panicing...it's right where I set it down last...trouble is, I can't seem to 'see' where that is!
Sooooo...no pictures today of Julie Q's presents or my tutorial table runner(which I finally got sewn together today).
I had a 'sewy' weekend, getting lots done, and a couple of naps besides. The ABC Family channel has been running a Harry Potter marathon, so I've had company all weekend! I know the story line quite well from the first 3 movies, so watching is not necessary. I can just listen and sew *VBS*
Oh yes! FOR HAZEL***** The *VBS* means 'very big smile' here in blogland. LOL means 'laughing out loud' and a *G* means 'grin'...you'll see a lot of *VBS* here at Pieces *S*
There are others, many others, but those are the ones I use.
I have another VERY simple table square pattern that makes up to a 21" square with minimum cutting and sewing. I'll share that on Tuesday...*VBS* I got mine pressed and pinned today, already to machine quilt it. A quick and easy gift item.Speaking of patterns....am I the ONLY one who didn't know there are really GREAT FREE patterns at the ez quilt site???? They are the people who make the EZ Angle rulers...and I linked over there today from Bonnie's. I was suprised to see free patterns, and really NEAT ones, including Christmas stockings, etc. Give the site a look-see here.
The storm gave us about 6" of fresh snow, and then turned to freezing rain. I've been hunkered down since Friday and in no danger. I don't see well enough to risk walking until it's shoveled and salted. And yes Katie, the soup kettle is on *VBS*

Happy December 1st.....*VBS*

I'm popping in ahead of the big snow storm to say "Good Morning Blogland" and a very Happy December to you *VBS*The wreath is up and the door is unlatched...please do come for a cup of Christmas Tea *VBS* This is all the decorating I will do for awhile, but I iike to kick the month off on the 'right' foot!
Season's Greeting to All! Almost all of the flat Santas went out in yesterdays mail. It's taken a bit longer as I've actually had to make additional 'flat' santas....LOL, but I was happy to do that. We, here in the midwest are under a snow storm, freezing rain watch...it's arrival time is predicted for about noon today. I took time to put the last of the summer things and lawn chairs away yesterday. That meant doing some re-arranging in the garage...all I can say is BRRRRRR...why did I wait this long??? Yes, Marcie...my Weather Pixie did say 16 degrees yesterday...that was our HIGH! It began at only 5 degrees at 7 a.m.
Today is slightly warmer...21 degrees at last look...it has to warm up to snow I guess.
I got my first christmas card and a lovely little gift yesterday from Julie Q...*VBS* I'll show you tomorrow....thanks Julie..I love everything!!!! I forgot to sign the flat santa for you, so look for an additional little package coming your way *S* Off I go to stuff the last of the santas into the envelopes...be back soon!
