Though it doesn't put me in mind of vintage fabric but more modern.Maggie Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04991999931680942893noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14458986.post-1153925718942714342006-07-26T09:55:00.000-05:002006-07-26T09:55:00.000-05:00Morning Finn! When asked whether all the fabrics in her little quilt are appropriate to the time period this is what she says . . . "I don't worry so much if they are exactly appropriate to the time period. If something from the late 1800's looks good in a civil war quilt then I use it. What I'm going for is a certain 'feeling' - the feeling of an antique. When I put the fabrics together if I get that feeling then I use it - even if it's not exactly age appropriate." That's not a quote - I'm at work and they don't give me access to Yahoo Groups here so I can't look at her post to see her exact words - but that's the gist of it. If you like the one on the right and it looks good visually in the block then I say go for it!Pattihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07125491177774966237noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14458986.post-1153893144843608012006-07-26T00:52:00.000-05:002006-07-26T00:52:00.000-05:00Use the fabrics you like. You will spend a lot of time with a CWD quilt.
I have not done a CWD quilt, but I have done a full DJ and am currently working on a Nearly Insane quilt in red and white. I have tried 2 other colour combinations for my NI quilt and gave up on them very early.
The red and white is more fun, and that is what it is all about right, girls just wanting to have fun ? ;-)
See each block as it's own project and take it from there. If you are not happy you can make your blocks into tablerunners or whatever and start again ! Go for it Finn !Hannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01977133647814863003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14458986.post-1153886116020226022006-07-25T22:55:00.000-05:002006-07-25T22:55:00.000-05:00Oh the left and middle for sure! So if you use it cut up I think it could work.Quilts And Pieceshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02043640520513261597noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14458986.post-1153871824881800552006-07-25T18:57:00.000-05:002006-07-25T18:57:00.000-05:00This is the quilt police and I'm just going to giv...This is the quilt police and I'm just going to give you a warning this time...Sandy Hatcher-Wallacehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15011307599473627922noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14458986.post-1153870145982398202006-07-25T18:29:00.000-05:002006-07-25T18:29:00.000-05:00I agree with the others. I love bringing a "has been" back into service. Be sure to look for little checks and plaids for your blocks. Shirtings too. Great fun!MARCIEhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01239774105939045673noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14458986.post-1153825763397568742006-07-25T06:09:00.000-05:002006-07-25T06:09:00.000-05:00I fell in love with Civil War repros a couple of y...I fell in love with Civil War repros a couple of years ago, but haven't acted on it, because I'm trying to finish other stuff first. Of course, I went overboard and now have too much. I know I'm not alone-just need to get the butt in gear and off the 'puter.Eileenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11791592886458322904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14458986.post-1153790178270141182006-07-24T20:16:00.000-05:002006-07-24T20:16:00.000-05:00good luck with this- I am absolutely no help on th...good luck with this- I am absolutely no help on this topic!Cherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10292382302931335587noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14458986.post-1153767949278837562006-07-24T14:05:00.000-05:002006-07-24T14:05:00.000-05:00The one on the right does seem brighter than the o...The one on the right does seem brighter than the others.
