For a Saturday in December..

I don't happen to have a quilt handy to snap a picture today. So I'm sharing a small piece from my folk art collection. I take great delight in the toys that people make for children. This little homemade dog, looking like a leopard with his strange spots has been with me for quilte a few years. His legs are stuffed firmly, but still fail to support his weight. He has jaunty ears and questioning felt eyes..*VBS*
Here's a picture of his perky little bent tail. Mostly I collect the funky homespun "stuff", but occasionally a piece of pottery or sculpture wanders in to my collection. Nothing seems to be that valuable or collectible, it's just what pleases me...like old quilts or orphan blocks. I think it would fall close to the "tramp art" category. But like the Quilts of Gee's Bend, you just never know.
And of course there just has to be a picture of my dear Ebony, making sure that I am finishing off this "Fiesta" version of a crocheted rug in the most correct manner. It has her kitty stamp of approval. Posted by Picasa

I love your little dog--very cute! You are creative with the name of your rug-Fiesta! The name suits the project perfectly. I am hoping to start such a rug in the new year--must get Christmas over first.

Love your little dog Finn!

If you will send me your address I will send you something to add to your collection - I think you will like it!

wonderful dog -- reminds me of a bright red reindeer I have in my Christmas stuff that came from my grandmother's... I think it was supposed to be rudolph, but his whole body is bright red velvet rather than his nose! :-)

So what is the dog's name? Leo? :)

Love him. And his eyes too!

Ebony is loving that rug! 'Stamp of approval' :) :)

Ebby looks like she's getting quite used to posing for the camera! Did you have to put her there or did she sit so prettily on the edge all by herself?

Your dog is cute. I'm always on the lookout for unusual small items to display. I don't have a dos as cute as yours though.

aww..cute little dog. How funny that they chose to use leopard fabric! The rug is looking great, too. NIce model to show it off so well for you!

I just love the rag crocheted rugs you are making. I don't know if I will ever make one. Hmmm... I'll have to post a pic of a rug that I have made tho. Looks like you have a spammer, Finn. You might want to turn on verification.

Hi Finn,

Your little dog reminds me of the toys that landed on 'The Island of Misfit Toys' in Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer. Even as a little girl, I saw nothing wrong with them and just wished they could come live with me, for I would love them all *s* I think your little guy is just perfect.

There's nothing like a kitty stamp of approval to make our day.
