The "Y Not?" quilt....

This quilt is all flannel except for the small letter "Y" in the upper right corner. I had been challenged to make a flannel quilt, using just what was already cut and left over. This is the result.. twin size, hand quilted/ perle cotton. I used a left over letter Y in the upper right corner left over from the bottle quilt I did for Andy. Given to the person who issued the challenge. Fall 2002 Posted by Picasa

Oh oh oh oh!!!! I am SO tickled to find your message and your blog! I love your quilts, they are terrific!! I don't have to tell you about how I feel about scrap quilts, expecially those that are a bit OFF the beaten path :c)

I hope you will let me add you to my links so I can check in on what you are doing! And yes, please post more pictures!

And I loved reading about you and the age difference between your sisters and yourself. I'm the oldest of 8 children, the last 5 were from my mom's second marriage. I was 14 when she was remarried, the last 5 came after I was 15....my youngest sister was born when I was 20. I feel more like they are neices and nephews, but yet we share the same mother....the first person I ever knew in this life, is the first person they knew as well, yet we never really knew eachother. I was gone by the time I was 16.....

Keep posting!

Oh Bonnie, you are so sweet. Thanks for your kind words. I guess I'm a "Y not?" kind of person.
It's an odd position to be in having those age gaps in our families, isn't it?
My sister doesn't understand that much of her growing up time is missing from my memories. But we are working on it..connecting the dots.
I'm happy to be added to your links, and following your lead, much braver about my mavericks. I have long adored the "old" stuff, I even love old pieces of tools and machines.
And a long time interest in the woman who made the quilts. Their lives, their stories..why did they put just one "Y" block in a quilt where it is totally unrelated?
I too run my fingers across the stitches, and wonder who's shirt scrap was this one? Definitely sisters-in-stitches, Sylvia aka Finn
