Saturday, Dec. 17th..was just over at Tropical Screamer's blog, and she was talking about old buttons. The link to her is on my sidebar. She prompted me to remember to share a few more of my "oldies but goodies" with you, since this is the season for sharing and for goodies. I don't exactly collect old pin cushions, but I do have a few. The little girl in the red hat is my favorite. She's made of muslin, red wool, well used ribbons and a bit of embroidery floss. I'm not sure what her hair is made of, it's NOT yarn. Feels more like old rayon stocking..predating nylons. I stuck in a couple of darning thread spools, a couple of button cards and a home made slipper pin cushion. The black box says "Fancy Hoisery" One dozen, size 4 1/2 and a price of 35 cents each. The embroidery floss is a brand called Princess. It's color 334 "rope", and has 8 yards in the package. No price on that one. It doesn't appear to be a kind that you could seperate the strands. How about the rest of you?? Have any oldie and goodie sewing bits and pieces to share?? Posted by Picasa

What neato vintage stuff! Yes, the pincushion might have been a teacher gift. The oldie stuff brings all kinds of scenes and stories to mind, doesn't it? Wish we knew all those old stories! The shoe is great, too!

That shirt button card is a hoot. I'm just waiting a few years til my sewing stuff becomes vintage, then I'll have quite the vintage collection!

I love the girl in the red hat too. Seems kinda mean to stick pins in her tho. She'd be great just sitting on a shelf watching your work progressing.

Yes, great vintage stuff. I am like quiltpixie, will have to wait til my stuff becomes vintage. I also agree with tonya, sticking pins in her would seem kinda like voodoo! Thanks for sharing your quilting/sewing heritage items.
