Sunday, Dec. 11th...cold and bright. Christmas time seems to be a time for reaching into our scrapbag of memories, and pulling out favorites. Sometimes sad ones work their way to the top, seeking attention from us. With life comes change. Like it or not, life is not stagnant. If you won't move forward, the Universe will do it for you. This morning I pulled this piece from my scrapbag. The quilt is an all flannel snuggle quilt for DD#1. She waited a LONG time for this one..*G* I don't always roll over and show my belly. This quilt is made from scraps leftover from many other flannel quilts that went to her siblings. Sorry it's such a dark picture. That was the camera I had at that time..no digital as yet. When I did make this one, I pieced 4 houses, one for each side, 4 corner blocks made up of pine trees and triangles. It's machine pieced and hand quilted with perle cotton. I quilted in pine trees, stars, lots of stars, hearts, bugs, and scotties..*VBS* I love scotties..and if i quilt one in for you..you are special to me..*S* The guy on the right is grandson #3. He will be 8 in January. The only sadness for me with this pic is that it's my "house". I sold it in 2002. I needed to be done with mowing and shoveling snow. There was lots of room there for all 5 kids and their famiies to come for the holidays. That isn't the case anymore. I haven't had all 5 of mine, and their families together since I sold the house. But I'm grateful for what I have, and for any time that I can get most of them together. What would I like for Christmas? All 9 gransons, and my one princess granddaughter together for a picture with Gram...*S* Posted by Picasa

Wonderful Quilt! It does look woodsy and warm, and I wish I could see the quilting you mentioned. I've never quilted with perle cotton yet....I bet it would be great on flannels!

I love the socks too....but I don't think I'll be taking up knitting any time soon. The crocheted scarf cured me of that desire! *LOL*

Great quilt. Your daughter looks like she's happy with it! Do all your kids live near?

I love your quilts and your outlook on life. I, too, was taught by the universe to embrace change. It sure saves a lot of time if we just plain learn whatever lesson we need to learn so we can move onto the next one, doesn't it?

Thank you again for sharing your quilts and your outlook on life.

Aloha,
Darilyn

The quilt looks great and appreciated too, which is even more important. Hope you get your Christmas wish of spending time and getting a photo with all the grandkids.
Bet you're glad you're not shovelling snow right now...

nice quilt, too bad about the house... but life has continued and you are as rich without it as you were with it. Now the time you spent with your family is more one on one that a big crowd which is nice too.

I love this post...its like coming home to a friends house. Welcoming and warm. This quilt is beautiful..and homey. Your loved ones sure get some wonderful quilts over the years! Your socks are pretty too. Aren't the yarns they make today beautiful..like what you're using. And, life sure does move on, whether we want to or not. Tomorrow is a new day, hope its full of sunshine for you and for me too. I've been gathering Mums pictures into one folder and burned a CD. I have 8 movie-clips and about 16 dozen pictures and am so thankful for them. Tears and all...*smile*.
