Framed!! Q-snap framed, that is..*VBG* Mostly I quilt in a hoop. I don't have Tracey's dilemna..I know I want and will stick to my wooden hoops, altho I mostly use the 12" these days. Just too much shoulder stress on the one that is under the quilt. In hot weather I put most of a bigger quilt onto a lawn chair(etc) in front of me, keeping it off my lap. When I have long, straight lines to do, however, I resort to the q-snap. This one is at that point, as I run lines through the lattice. Doesn't take long to just sit down and quilt a line or two and get up and walk away. I do swing the whole frame around to quilt from the other side or either end. I re-position as little as possible. Q-snaps DON'T work well for curved quilting. Not great for circles, and while you can do the baptist fans in here, it involves alot more knots. In the hoop I can just turn the hoop to come at it from the other side. Off I go to quilt some more.. sawtooth baby quilt done and gone, one graduation quilt decided on and begun..all stash! Posted by Picasa

Love the sashings - I often take the lazy way out and make them the same fabric - but these scrappy ones just add so much more interest to the quilt - great job!

Love your scrappy quilt :) I quilt in a hoop, too, and sit at the table in the hot months so it's not laying on my lap. I turn and turn alot as I can only quilt in one direction - toward me. You make lovely quilts, Finn.

I've never used a Q snap...but I can see where it would be great for straight lines, because the curved round hoops cut off the corners of your working space! :c) The sister's choice quilt looks like it is coming along great, and I love the scrappy sashing!

Finn - I've been so busy lately I haven't had time to chat. But I LOVE the scrappy quilt here! What a fun idea! Never thought of doing those scrappy sashings like that. you give me such inspiration!

I've never tried a q-snap, but like you, don't know that I'll ever give up my hoop. I use several different sizes depending on the project, and when I have a line that goes beyond the hoop I just leave the needle in the fabric at the side with the thread, and when I move the hoop I return to that needle and thread!. Only problem is corners on quilts where the backing doesn't extend well...

I am still trying to figure out what to do about a quilting frame. I need to buy one.
