Compare...really an odd word if you think about it. Good if you are buying a car, bad if it's your children. In this case, it's just about measurements and Finn's fun, folly and foolishness. These are about as extreme as it got for me. The bow tie knot finishes at 1/4", the tie piece at 1/2" and the whole thing at 1". Set together the bow ties would finish at 1/2". Will I make a whole quilt of these? Probably not...LOL But if you subscribed to the Minature Quilt Magazine back in "the day", you just had to try these and see if you could do it...LOL I could, and I did..*G* These are probably right up Lucy's alley. Or Keryn, over at pages from me...or was it her twin???? Hmmmmm........

I bought a copy of one of those magazines when our kids went off to college ....thinking I would have fun. Procrastinator that I am, I never tried any...but I'm glad to see that you did, I'll enjoy these with you..ok? Hugs to you dear Finn!
These are teeny-tiny! I think I would go blind trying these. Oh my goodness - just another reason not to throw out ANY scrap of fabric - no matter how small! I think I would just make these into a tiny little quilt and frame it in one of those shadow-box picture frames. Could never imagine making enough for a quilt - not paper pieced. Oh my, I am impressed! (I have done a few small paper pieced projects, maybe even that small, but they were paper pieced, so an entire different ballgame!).

I love doing tiny piecing! And it's not as hard as people think - wouldn't you agree? I did it with 1/4" seams, which I then trimmed to 1/8" after each step. I have all of those magazines. I ripped out the ads but saved every single one of the patterns. I was sorry when it was discontinued.
Even if you don't make any more, you have to sew them together and frame them or something :-) I love them! They are so much fun to do, but only a few at a time or we'd all go blind LOL.
As my kids would say: a crazy woman...that's what you are! That tiny work simply amazes me!

I used to subscribe to the magazine, but was never crazy enough to try any of these bitty things. They might be fun contrasting with larger bowties or in one of your orphan quilts.
I'm the one that likes miniatures, but I tend to be kind to myself and not go too small! Your little bowties are not miniature, they're miniscule.
I would definitely have a go at a whole mini quilt like that if I had the time; it's just a matter or patience and pure pig-headed stubborness. I'll attempt anything with a needle and thread, but don't ever ask me to use glue..... I end up covered in gunge and stuck to the table.
simply amazing Finn...yes, it proves you can do anything with enough patience-I like the idea of putting together what you have and framing it. I hope you write the story and put in on the back too-what a family heirloom that would make! I have some of that same green print in this current ufo-perhaps you noticed? lol. hugs

Just coming by to see you...hope everythings ok. I'm off the computer and need to get practising. Doesn't it eat up the time as enjoyable as it is...to be online. To think I used to spend hours reading online newspapers and now ....I never do and don't miss them a bit...*vbs*. *hugs*
Ohmygoodnes, Finn! Those bow ties look nearly painful! I think that I've probably swallowed tiny bits of fiber that were about that size. (You know...the little bits of fuzz that waft into one's coffee while cutting, sewing, quilting!) (Supposed to be funny!)
You certainly have my high regards as a stitcher!
