The Honeycomb quilt
It was finished about 1986, nearly 10 years after it was started. I had the piecing done about 1983, basted it on the floor..oh the agony of that, and begun the quilting. Every hexagon is quilted inside, about a quarter inch, again, I didn't measure or mark. The friend who has doubted my ability to get it to a rectangle, went on to teach me how to quilt by hand, and got me started piecing on the sewing machine. One of the best things that ever happened to me..*VBS* I made and finished several quilts between meeting her in 1980, and when this was finished in 1986. They might have been done first, but this IS my first quilt. Thanks Aunt Lucille...*VBS*

Lovely quilt & even better story!
Wow Finn! Oh my goodness you basted all of that on the floor? You must have been ironing out the kinks in your back for yonks!
What a beautiful keepsake. The work that has gone into that quilt is extraordinary. No wonder machine piecing was a revelation :)

My back would STILL be aching! what a labor of love ...
Boy, I need a nap after reading your post! What a busy life you have had.
Your quilt is truly priceless. I bet you didn't know all those years ago that you would one day become a "quilt maverick!"

I love your hexagon quilt, Finn! It's so bright and cheery and is filled with cherished memories. And I thought *I* was busy.
