Stir-ring Things Up.......so many of us in Mavericks and Stash are playing with strings lately. Maybe it's that 15th of March..The Ides are Upon Us....followed so quickly by the 15th of April....a day of reckoning. Maybe we see that frugal is good(at times!) or maybe it's just a time of gay abandonment...a "what the heck" time. Obviously I didn't want to be left out...LOL. These are some of my "strings" play. The blocks are 5" at this point. And while they are bright, and happy, and fun...something is lacking. The nice thing with string blocks, as with many Maverick undertakings...is the rule...."there are no rules", I like that one...alot !! Are you having any fun with your piecing??? Posted by Picasa

Good job playing!

And since you asked I am having no fun piecing but only because I am in quilting mode at the moment, LOL.

I AM going to sew some pioneer braid at our meeting tomorrow and that should help. Grab any two strips, keep going and try not to get "matchy-matchy" with them

That little fish is why I love Finn quilts...

At first I thought this was a 'necktie' quilt block. You must have such fun....smile.

I love that fish! It is so perfect in there. A couple of those hidden in a string quilt would be so much fun!

Things are looking like you are busy, busy, busy. I love your hidden fish. What a neat find for whom ever receives this quilt.

Wheee, looks like fun. Another vote here for "love the fish." I've been having fun piecing too - the moon and planets must all be properly aligned or something.

I've been wanting to play with strings too. I think I want to just do something fun and with no pressure for matching points! Seeing yours makes me want to do it even more.

They're gonna be great! I find your projects so inspiring (have I said that before?).

Glad you liked my quilt - and the view. It's one of the perks of living on the Great Barrier Reef.

As to save time while blogging, I try to stay away from reading other's comments. Something was telling me to read yours for this post though, Finn. Tonya is onto something!!! Just Monday, I had the need and desire to piece. Usually, I stifle that need...and get to work with machine quilting. But Monday! I was a rebel without a cause...'cept to piece!!! It's gotta be the stars...the moon...the weather...something!

Sorry...getting windy here, aren't I?!

I love your strings-in-progress quilt. I don't see anything missing. I just think that sometimes that eye gets fooled by the space between the blocks where the seam allowance has yet to be eaten up. You just go girl!

Looks great, Finn! String quilts are my favorite since I don't have to worry about matching. Staying tuned to see how this quilt develops.
