Flowers from a friend...back in the mid 1990's. This wall hanging is about 22" square and was made for me by a guild friend. It's beautifully hand quilted, and she does such beautiful applique. She is a fair bit older than I am, but still can see to do this type of work. I truly love it!! Posted by Picasa

I love applique, especially baskets of flowers. WHY can't you do applique? I might have missed your reasons. DO you not like it or too hard on the hands?

It's great to see older ladies keep thier skills going and thier minds working. That's what keeps them sharp!

Oh my gosh...you did have more than your share of eye troubles. My heart goes out to you. You are right though..it takes really good glasses and a very good light to get those stitches on that tiny edge of fabric. I had to show the eye doctor how I held my needlework to get him to understand that I needed super stitching glasses instead of reading glasses! He finally just zoomed them up "supersize" and they work great. BTW I changed most of the posts on my blog to the larger size. It was just too small!

What a lovely present. And how funny, because when I just looked at the picture first I thought - "that doesn't look like something Finn would make!"

So pretty and so happy looking. Like having a may basket all year long.

such a pretty basket of flowers. What a nice friend to do that for you! After all, who would appreciate it more than a fellow quilter?

I love the basket! It reminds me that its almost time for our local quilt show here. I look forward to seeing the wonderful quilts each year. they have a competition for the quilters...each get a packet of fabric..the same fabric? and make a miniature quilt to hang in the show. I am fascinated by the different designs they come up with. Truly art!

This is a very pretty basket - a real treasure! It looks like one from a Piecemakers calendar years ago - I'm sure I have the pattern for the basket.....now I have to go and look for it LOL
