I'm loving photographing these blocks, what I didn't realize is that I get a whole new perspective seeing the block on my computer screen. For example, I didn't realize this was a T block until this morning. I was seeing an album patch. My brain was not taking in the extra thing happening at the out side. Like you brain did a random search and but up what it knew to be familiar...LOL This block came from a friend, and it was in the batch as the first small one I showed you. The cactus basket one. I think the blue fabric outdates the time of it's piecing by quite a few years. What's amazing is how strong the fabric still is,a hundred or almost, years later. Some of you have wanted to know where these blocks came from. Some have come from friends, some were in a box of "stuff" from a yard sale, and some have been picked up one by one, as I saw them in an antique shop. Solo blocks haven't been priced out of reach...at least not the last time I look. From a dollar up... Posted by Picasa

You know, I never thought to piece my fabrics for getting enough to make a particular section of a block. We are so wasteful nowdays, I guess. I just buy extra or head off to the store to get more.

Now I piece borders, but have yet to piece for that reason. next time I will do it.

Love these blocks. I have never bought blocks from antique stores, never looked before now. I used to always go for the linens and hanky's. Can't wait to see what you are doing!

The "T" block is one of my favorites. I have made one T quilt and when my middle son graduates he will get a "T" quilt as we call him T. It will definately be scrappy!

You're making me want to get in that big storage box of antique blocks and see what's what! And I promised I wouldn't do that until most of the modern quilts were done!

Great block. We can learn so much from our forequilters!

Still wondering what you are up to! Like a history lesson looking at the blocks.

hmm....your clues are getting harder instead of easier to understand! I can't wait til the end of this mystery so we'll know just what you are up to. I'm sure it's something wonderful.

Oh your right. At first look I don't notice the T either. What gorgeous indigo fabric it is! These are so much fun to look at!

This looks like so much fun - are you trying to add sashing to make them the same size? Or are you going to *thinking* make a row of 12 inch blocks (12x5=60)then a row of 10 inch blocks (10x6=60) and so on?

I like trying to figure out what you're up to. :)

Oh wow I can see the T too. It looked like a box on a box at first glance. Clever you!

In our little town the downtown square area has turned entirely into antique shops (everything else is at WalMart I guess). I have never been in any of those shops, figured I had enough old junk at my house already, but now I have a reason to go in - looking for old quilt blocks or better yet an antique quilt already finished! Thanks for the idea. Love your pictures as always, thanks for sharing.
