Individuality. Ideas. Vision. Process. Conclusion. Sharing. So often in today's fast paced world, we don't take the time to "savor the moment". In life and in the process of being a quilter. We seem to have become detached from the world around us, on auto pilot, letting some one else create our agenda. Things are not necessarly what we think they are, not always. We just aren't as clever as we think. What if there were no lines on the rulers(aka Gwen Marston question), what if there were no cutting directions. And since templates are a thing of the past, forget those too....you're on your own here. Just an idea, a vision or a picture( if you must have something..*G*) Follow me through the next 4 or 5 brief posts below this one. This quilt? Pieced Quilt by Marilyn Howard. 72" X 90". I mention the quilt size to give you an idea of what sizes the pieces MIGHT be....*S* Posted by Picasa

Ohh..you're making us think beyond our boxes today, Finn. GOOD GIRL! :o) It always is helpful to 'stretch' our creative brains once in awhile, yes?
On the book...I'm guessing it was published in the mid 80's. Am I close? :o)

the year of the book you say.... I'd guess in the early to mid '60s its neat to revisit the idea of just getting on with creating rather than following the leader....

Finn: "We seem to have become detached from the world around us, on auto pilot, letting some one else create our agenda."

I wonder what Finn could accomplish if she didn't let some one else create her agenda? I often read in your posts about having to make a quilt for this or that person, this or that occasion, deadlines, committments...

Just think of the creations that would emerge if Finn were left to her own ideas!
