FEMA approved....and newly leased. After my amazing preformance last week, with my 6 appointments, I'm just barely limping along this week. I'm happy to report that my gum is healing nicely, and not to sore after the extraction. I haven't followed up with a call to the Pain Clinic to see what the MRI revealed. BUT I did go and get my hair cut today, and picked up the new glasses! Gosh I can see again! Well, better at least...LOL No sewing done, and I'm beginning to feel like I'm on "hold", listening to Musek...endlessly. Definitely a dry spell in the sewing room. Not even my Civil War block as yet.
The nights have gotten cool and crisp in my part of WI..an overnight temp in the low 50's. Northern MN reported a 37 degrees this morning. Autumn is on it's way. We still are very short in the rain department, and apparently the crops will be what they will be. I wonder how the apples are doing this summer? The tomato crop has really suffered, the skins are tough and almost dehydrated feeling. Sun dried tomatoes ..on the vine. That's something new.

Hi Finn,
Nights have got chilly over here too. You just wouldn't believe that 4 weeks ago it was so hot you couldn't got outside and all the fans were working overtime. Now it is defnitely autumnal and step-daughter arrives today for annual visit.
Sun dried tomatoes on the vine! Haven't had them this year as the plants have been protected from the sun, but did last year - yum!
Love the jungle material and glad you are feeling better.
Can you send some of that cool air down to TX? It's so freaking hot during the day here!
I'm with Andrea, please send some cool air. I'm dreaming of it here in Atlanta. Hope you feel much better quite soon. That delicious fresh air should help :-).
Finn sounds like your mouth is on the mend and yay for the new glasses! Don't worry - your itch to sew will return one of these days...and then you will be firing!
It's still very cold overnight here, but the days are slowly starting to warm. No rain here either...
SO happy about your health news. I'm glad you've got new glasses. Love the halloween fabric. What is it about crows?!?!? The season are definitely changing in the upper midwest...
Quilt for me right now as I'm juggling life with teenagers, I'll be back quilting hopefully by Sept 1. Take care.
Melanie
Yup, life here in central Canada has the edge of fall in the air too. Still beautifully warm in the days but not too hot, and deliciously cool in the night so that with the windows open a quilt can be snuggled under :-)
The sewing will come back as you re-establish your balance... if you want to push it try setting a very short time limit to spend doing something each day (say 15 minutes in the sewing room sewing) It'd get you back in the habit while letting you migrate from project to project until motivation hits again.
I'll be Up North (Boulder Junction area) for my vacation a month from now. Much as I hate to see our short summer end, I always love the edge of fall up there in mid-September. Can't wait!
Yeah, our tomatoes are sick this year too. As is the sweet corn. But at least it is starting to cool off here too, not as cool as you, but better than sweating hot!
what a fun photo-new glasses are a big help I am sure. and a haircut? good for you-adding 2 more appointments this week-keep resting my friend.
Yeah, a haircut. Somehow a haircut makes me feel better about most things. And new glasses too. Glad you are on the mend and feeling better. Sometimes we forget to allow ourselves the time we really need to heal. You'll be back full swing with sewing before you know it.
Tomatoes *$)*^% So far my entire harvest has consisted of 3 cherry tomatoes I shared a couple of weeks ago.
Love that block- you manage to find the greatest, happy prints! Hope you continue on the road to being better.
What a week you've had, dear Finn. Hope you're feeling more and more like yourself each and every day. And still...you're so generous and unselfish to share your thoughts and pictures with us.
Cheers to cool, crisp air!
I am dying listening to you northern gals talk about fall coming. It's hot as hades here and won't get to fall for at least another month or so. Now this would be so bad except that I HATE where I live, and given the opportunity I would move...YESTERDAY to anywhere else, especially up towards the north. But alas, I am not the one with the job, making the money, so I get no say in the matter. Which is really depressing.
Enough about that...the house is really cool and exciting!! Love seeing the wacky fabrics!
looks like we both are in a bit of a sewing slump but maybe we can drag each other out.
Maybe once you can stop going to every doctor and dentist between there and Timbuktu?
We are alternating between cool and semi-warm nights.
Glad to see you're on the road back. Just take it easy, the fabric and the quilts will still be there when you're ready.
Like you have, my MI weather is wonderful now. Sunny and up to 80 in the afternoon and light quilt in the night with windows open. Problem is ragweed is getting bad. Both Kipper and I have bad allergies to it. Grrrrr.
I think we are going to have sun-dried tomatoes too!!
Hair cut and new glasses, as well as a soreness free mouth - what more can a girl wish for!
Thank goodness for cooler temperatures at night - we are having them also. It's definitely feeling like fall these days. Hooray! Fall is my favorite season!
Don't worry about your dry spell - knowing you it certainly won't last very long!
I think your little FEMA house is soooo cute.
And I also can't believe how cold your nights are...how nice...I can't wait for some chilly nights and some 70's days.
Sandy:)
