Living With Ebby.....week 3....traveling together. We had our first 'vet' visit yesterday, and oh my!! What a fuss this little lady put up. She has very definite
opinions about the pet taxi. She found herself a 'secret' place to sleep(I'm cat savy so I knew she would) and no amount of coaxing or calling could budge her yesterday. I finally had to 'go in after her'....LOL What a riot that was!!! Took me about a half hour to finally corner her in the big bedroom and deposit her in the pet taxi. She promply attacked the woven door and kicked the sides a few times. Trust me, I checked and rechecked that door to make sure it had latched.
She traveled fairly quietly once we got moving. Surprisingly she was fairly easy to contain while at the vets, and once she realized we weren't going to let her off that table, she just hid her head under my arm. Apparently I'm preferable to a strange smelling vet. I had been pleased to take her to her previous vet, only to learn she hadn't been there since 2004. Guess it wasn't a big deal after all, but I liked the gal, and she is going to be Ebby dr. when we need her. Ebby was found to be in excellent health, very good teeth, clear ears, heart and lungs. And she got weighted(uhmmmm...small problem there) and got the 2 shots she needed. Smaller food portions are in her future. I'm sure they will be ample complaints about that!
The picture of her today was a spur of the moment snap last evening as I played cards before bedtime. The lime green tissue is from the picture frames and fabric bday presents. She seems to like the sound of it, right there next to my computer chair. She walked around and around on it, giving it a good smell, then decided it's a good place to sleep. Maybe it's her solution to being near me while I'm on the computer...LOL. She's there again, since I sat down here, so I'll just leave the tissue on the floor, it's not hurting anything.
I've been realizing she never learned the 'kitten games' we play with our cats as babies. The wiggling your finger under the sheet or blanket and them thinking it's a mouse and pouncing on it, over and over. Or the tying a piece of news paper or part of an envelope to a string and dragging it along the floor or tying it to a doorknob so it swings. And as I do these activities with her, she acts just like a kitten, which is so charming . Very alert and wanting to play but the game is up to me. She loves to be brushed, and that is helping us bond also.
I'm still not allowed to pick her up, but I do. And I hold her and pet her and talk to her for a few seconds longer each time. I choose the release time rather than letting her fight her way out of my arms. We almost had a nose touch yesterday....it's so close..*VBS* You know how important those nose touches are, right???
After a gorgeous day on Sunday, with temps in the low 70's, we are back to a rainy Monday and it is spilling over into Tuesday...showers mixed with snow. I'm hoping today will be a sewing day. I want to make up a few Broken Dishes towards the swap with Betsy, and maybe more of my new row by row quilt. Posted by Picasa

What a cute little fur baby! I, too, had to take my kitty to the vet yesterday for his shots. The weighing is always uncomfortable for everyone involved! Mine is 22 pounds! Big fat fatty. But it's just more of him to love, at least that's how I see it! LOL

Have a great Tuesday!

Ebby is so gorgeous. I hate the trip to the vets...more so than Sadie, but she does well. And the poor girl has to go on a DIET? WELL...the nerve of that vet! No wonder she didn't want to go. :oP

Have a wonderful day, dear Finn!

Oh you two are getting along just fine, and she is very pretty next to the lime green tissue paper! You painted a very great picture of her in her travel carrier! Gave me a laugh!

I think Ebby must have chosen the tissue paper because it is such a lovely compliment to her eyes *s* Glad to hear the vet visit went well. You two have fun and try not to get into too much trouble.

Awww, has she forgiven you for stuffing her in the carrier yet? Mine yowl the whole time we're in the car... lemmeOWWWT.... nOWWW... meOWWWWT!

Are you playing cards online or with 'real' cards? I learned to play cribbage and canasta and pinochle online with virtual cards - but I've never played with 3D cards before... lol

I couldn't see putting my Vincent on a diet! He's just right for his size at 20#. Ebby is such a sweetie!
(We put a bit of catnip in the carrier to lure him in!)

I love reading about Ebby. Cats have been part of my whole life. I have breeded persian cats, have had abysinian cats and ordinary housecats. I talk to my Frida (persiancat) and she answers me. She also tells me storys. Do not laugh, but she really do. Sounds like Ebby is starting to settle down by you, and I know that once she allows you to pet her stomach she have accepted you. Please tell us more about her later.

love the new fabrics and frames from your ds and grands..they know you well-and the photo of Ebby on the green tissue would look so great in the new frame. glad she checked out ok with the vet, though, a diet sounds like her future :-) hope you were or are able to sit and sew - piecing after all is so much fun!

She doesn't look like she needs to lose weight to me - but then black is very slimming...

amazingly enough we had lime green tissue laying around on the floor for the kitties to play with too, but I threw it away yesterday in a rare burst of cleaning frenzy. beautiful girl you have there.

Ebby has terrific taste in color...that lime green compliments her gorgeous black fur coat! Funny kitty!

That must be something they all learn as kittens...dive for the arm when the vet enters the room!! All of mine have done that, and yet never figured out that the hind end is exposed out there for shots and such!! We have left out the carriers so much that they don't freak when we put them out, but if the door closes them in you better be moving quickly after that and the howling Noodle does in the car YEEOWWW!!

Ah, I like fatty kitty's anyway, as long as they aren't unhappy. She doesn't look anything but perfect in her pictures!

Awww cute cat picture - BTW the official term for the vet small - "Vet Stink!" I bring both of mine, even if only 1 needs attention - so that the other does not swat at the kitty with vet stink when we get home. (I made that mistake ONCE!)

It sounds like you are getting along just fine with Ebby and bonding but, be careful with those nose touchings in the winter...The cats won't touch me anymore because they soon learned that in the winter months I give them a small static charge that makes them jump. So, sadly I am now not one of the lucky ones who are honored with nose touchings. :(
