Gathering the orphans for the trip...

and rather than being 'on a list', they begin to be a grouping. No BIG combinations as yet, but the herding together of what is similar. And the assembly of additional parts. Not shown in
the picture are a pile of HST's(need ironing) and a pile of broken dishes(need sizing). Beyond that I am sorting out red and white scraps to make more of Tonya's wonky letters..*VBS* I dug out this pile of redwork(some of these are among the destined for blog-a-versity give-away). I for sure will putting the little girl into the Yuletide Orphans. Not sure if she will be the only one or not. Executive desisions you know. If I can ge my act together just a bit more, I'll show you more of the give-away stuff you signed up for. There still is time...if you want a "Finn-Thing", my 2 yr. anniversary is July 13th. Just leave your name and that you want to be included, or email me with your 'me too'. I think 27 are signed up right now, but only Katie and Nadine are multiple registers. If Katie doesn't get something, I'll be surprised....LOL!
Last but not least, today, I get to include this little 'goodie' in my orphans. My very own real 'foreign' orphan. It traveled far to get here. I love the black star fabric with it, but seeing it in the picture, feel the black may just be TOO much, and take away from the tree. Might have to re-think the black I added to the block. I'm such an old timer at this quilt stuff, and maybe that is why it tickles and pleases me sooooo much to have bits and pieces from other quilters and friends as part of my quilts. Always makes me happy to see an 'old friend' piece or part, and think about who it came from. Of course that mostly is reserved for quilts that will live at my house, unless DD snitches them...*VBS* I don't do that in quilts that are for someone else, unless the someone else is special to me.

Finn, I realized that your blog-aversary is soon! Can you add me to the drawing again? Pretty, please? O, and I think I'm going to play with some orphan blocks tomorrow. At least pull them out and see what's there. I may just end up with something for the Orphan Train. Have a Happy Fourth of July!

Me too!!!!

Do you only group orphan blocks with colors that "play nice"? After all my company goes home (Thursday or Friday) I am going to lay out my orphans on the floor (doesn't that have a cruel ring to it???) I don't think I have enough for much of anything that would "go together" but we'll see...

Oh, I don't have any more orphan redwork blocks. You can add me to your list and send me some of those redwork blocks.

I have lots of orphan blocks, maybe I need to go a lookin' for them. Maybe not. Yours look great but presently I'm trying not to get myself off track or otherwise distracted... (it doesn't take much!) I'm going to keep this in the back of my mind for the fall. Happy 4th!

Finn, I can't remember if I signed up or not. But in any case, sign me in multiples, too ;) Happy, Safe and Fun Fourth to you and Miss Ebby!

Toss my name in again Finn! I'd love to have a little bit of "Finn" at my house! I love the idea of combining some of the redwork blocks with the Christmas blocks - I don't think I would have thought to do that. They'll fit right in!

thanks for giving the little tree a home. I like it with that black too. Unless there are some other dark areas on the quilt, I can see why that might be a bit of a black hole.

I would love to try my luck at one (or more) of the redwork blocks, if you are parting with them.

You simply must pick ME! Yes, really ME, ME, ME! LOL

Please add me to the list of those wanting a little piece of Finn. I wish that I had been quilting long enough to have some orphans so that I may join in making a quilt from them. Maybe on the next Orphan train trip, I can hop aboard.

Happy 4th of July, my dear friend! Hope Ebby doesn't get too scared by the fireworks. My 'boys' DO NOT like them at all. :/ Add my 'me too' PLEASE!!! :)

That Christmas orphan quilt is starting to shape up. Stop showing the redwork, I'm starting to like it and might start begging to have some. (Don't like it enough to do it myself, though!)Tell you what, put my name in the drawing for Ebby- I have decided I'd like to have a quilting cat.LOL

fun grouping-it is shaping up! I am happy you are going to keep looking for the "right" go with for those nine patches (and didn't they wash up nice!) and sounds like the bowtie blocks too...I do remember that song and I do remember rolling down grassy hills, as recently as a year ago!

Me, too. I would love to have a piece of Finn to go with my orphans.
I found some orphan red, white and blue blocks the other day, while looking for some neutrals, (I never did find the neturals I was looking for, tho')and carefully put them where I'd know where they are, after my current project is to its next step. I have some bluework, and a bit of redwork... maybe they would play nice with the R/W/B orphans. Thanks for the inspiration.
