If I were more of an "on task" person, finishing things would be alot easier. Due to the extreme heat of this past week, I've been forced to stay very close to home. And I have managed to get some much needed catch-up type sewing done.On this first one, I've gotten 7 rows of 12 blocks each joined up. I have 5 more rows counted out, but want to lay them out one by one and spread the colors around.
On this little table runner....I've been bad! It's been in the 'flimsy' stage for several years when all it needed was someone to sit down and run a few machine quilting lines. I even had the backing and batt cut...bad Finn! Now it's ready for binding. I would have that done too, but with cleaning my sewing room, the box of lights are waaaaay back in the corner against the wall. Binding will have to wait!
And then there is my Yuletide Pineapple Blossom! Love the pattern from Bonnie at Quiltville. I made up this scrappy version to be a table square(it's about 44" square)for Dec. of 2005. Yup, (embarassed grin)the backing was ready, but I never got around to quilting it. Now it's about half done. I pray I'm at least half way!! I've been quilting in the ditch, outlining all the dark....sure does take some time!
The weather has moderated slightly, a cool front came through and made it almost bearable again. More heat on the way...or so they say. Nothing new in the mailbox as yet....*VBS*
My DD was here on Thursday, and absolutely LOVED my block shower blocks! She could hardly believe how many countries they represent and all the love and good wished that came with them for her Mama Bear..*S*

Doesn't look like dull stuff to me - scrappy is never dull!
It has to feel good to get some of the old stuff done...dig out the binding for that table runner!!! I love the yuletide table topper too!!! All beautiful projects!
Doesn't it feel great to finish (or nearly finish) some long neglected projects? When the heat drives you indoors - they really are great to work on . . . but I'm thinking maybe you could use a dark binding *s*
Great pictures Finn. I remember the Christmas quilt. I am happy to see it is getting finished. You are going to enjoy using it when all completed. You have been busy, busy, busy.
wow Finn you're on a roll....Love the first quilt of qsts. Really cute- maybe after this broken dishes quilt for charity....
Keep up the great work :)
Love the table runner and the christmas pineapple - don't feel guilty sometimes things have to go away on the back burner for the enthusiasm to rise again to get them finished
Scraps are the BEST!
Very nice lot of treasures you are finishing off. I am glad you had a little relief from the heat. I too, much prefer Autumn & Spring.
Glad you are getting some sewing done. Weather has been nice here, with some down pour rains, this past week but they say your heat in the 90s is coming beginning Tuesday. Just wanted to let you know that it is okay with me if you want to keep it. "G" Doesn't sound like you want it tho. I like summer (will see if I'm still saying this in a few days) mostly because of the long hours of daylight. I also like spring but my allergy doesn't like the fall ragweed. It is also depressing to see things drying up and heading towards winter, which I really dislike. I really love those solid interest blocks in your broken dishes quilt. I was looking at those upside down houses on the top of your wall hanging and discovered two really neat lower case letter "E". Turn it sideways and look. Gosh, I'm seeing letters everywhere. "VBS"
Hope our brief cool days have now arrived in your area - what a relief, and we even received that odd stuff, rain!
The star/house table runner is especially charming! So inviting and down to earth. Sometimes simple is just the thing!
Love, love, love the little Christmas piece and the hourglass looks like the twin to one I have. I'll post a pic tomorrow. Great minds think alike???? Sometimes the simplest blocks just look so super!By the way, what is this thing called "finishing" that everyone mentions??
They don't look dull to me...I especially like the Christmas one.
Wonderful projects you're working on! Doesn't it feel good?!! Yea, Finn!
Don't confuse dull with productive, looks like you've done some lovely things.
I'm with Gail: don't confuse dull with productive! I only wish I'd been half as productive this last week. Hope the predicted heat won't getcha. Maybe being forced to stay inside with the A/C on will help you finish some of these projects!
Excellent choice on the red and white stripe for the Christmas quilts--it really sets off all those scraps.
Finn, you didn't waste any time while you were home. What a nice collection of progress pics on your projects! I like all nine of the nine patch blocks used together. The Christmas quilt is really pretty, too, and the table runner and the hourglass blocks... Please send some energy this way so I can have a few days of productivity!
Yuletide Pineapple Blossom! I love it! Very Pretty Finn :O)....
