yes....it's one of 'those' days. One of the ones where, if the earth wasn't turning on it's axis, and without contintental drift, I wouldn't be moving at all *VBS* Well, ok, maybe not QUITE that bad....lOL Inch by inch I am getting things done. Little by little, and ever so slowly, things are happening. Things that should have happened a long time ago, but who's keeping track??? LOL...ya, right!
I'm the world's slowest starter, I think. I believe you can't do a 'thing' until you know it needs doing. After all this time, I am finally 'settling in' at my little house in the Valley. They tell me you're not home til you hang pictures...*G*. Well, the picture hanging has begun. I kicked it off with little Amish (type) pieces. The quilt on the right is from 'long, long ago'...which could be a historical novel by now. About a bijillian years ago, when the first Amish doll pattern came out(the one with the girl and the boy(one size only) it included this little Amish quilt pattern. Probably 1980 something. It almost dates itself by being made with blue and mauve. Machine pieced, hand quilted in black.
The other little quilt, the four patch, is made from pieces I hand dyed in a class with Jan Myers. It's part of a series, one of the series used the brights we dyed, and one more isn't finished as yet. The picture of the Amish dolls I picked up in a thrift shop. I have one more picture of dolls in cross stitch, but need push points first, to secure it. And so it begin...the outward putting together of my life.
Today I re-arranged and cleaned my bedroom and am making some dark blue pillowcases(to act as shams). They will match the border on my bed quilt. And I am on a 'marathon' burp cloth sewing frenzy. Newest grandson is a 'burpy' baby and you know what that means *VBG* I got the hall closet emptied, swept, mopped and re-arranged...it looks great!! I have time to do a bit more I think...little by little, inch by inch.

I love your collage there, Finn! I bet I have you beat on "settlin' in" seeing as how we've been in this house almost 5 years and we still haven't 'hung' pictures yet. *sigh* Randy and I have such different tastes, and neither of us has been willing to take the first 'hammer stroke' for hanging what we each want to hang (in the same spot, of course LOL)...so there you have it. ROFL One of these days he'll come home from a show and there will be quilt hangers and pictures galore hanging from the walls. After all, I've given him 5 years to hang his Indian pictures and he hasn't done it so....LOL
I've actually been quilting!!!!! I'm going to do a post with some pictures soon. :> We've spent the better part of this day getting the boat out of the water, and we're scrubbing it up before putting it to bed for the Winter. :>
it always amazes me to realize how long it takes to settle -- I'm someone who moves a lot (longest I've been in a house, job, school or any one place is 5 years!). I think I've settled after about 5 months, and then 2 years later I look back and realize I've only really settled in :-)
I'm a fast settler . . . when we were first married we moved so quickly if I waited I wouldn't need to unpack *s* It is only lately (now that the frequent moving has ended) that I have learned to rearrange - finding new ways to display things. It's a lot of fun. Your display looks just right.
My daughter quickly makes her house her home. It takes longer for me.
I love your little group there. Very nice.
I love your miniature quilt wall. It's been six months since I've moved in and I have empty walls upstairs. I'm in no hurry.
Love your quilts you hung :O)....sounds like to me you were moving more than little! Closet cleaned out, pictures/quilts hung and sewing shams and burp cloths.. yes Ms Finn you were moving!
You sweep and mop your hall closet?! Gadzooks! Once mine gets filled up with stuff it *stays* there! There's no room for dust!
I love the 4 patch quilt where you dyed the fabric, it is amazing!
Wow it looks wonderful!!!!
someday I hope to have a little quilt wall too.
hmmm maybe I should pull out one of my little quilt tops to baste and start hand quilting.

Ah, I well remember the blue & mauve craze and the Amish dolls. I didn't make little quilts then but I made the dolls. The grouping looks just right there on the wall together. Settling in does take time, it's an emotional commitment and adjustment, for me. We've been in this house four years now and the decorating took a back burner and there it still rests. At times inspiration hits but usually isn't long lasting enough to get the projects moving. Hmmmm...now for another cup of coffee
Ahhh, slow but steady progress. Good for you. Sounds as if you are feeling a bit better.
... and sew it goes... well done with all your progress. Your small quilt wall is lovely!
I like inch by inch! I like no rushing..do as you feel like it.
and this all looks great
