Local baby turns 40! It's the news of the century..it's the news of the day!!!
This sweet little munchkin is DD#1. And she's #1 in more ways than birth order!! This picture was taken Christmas, 1968. She turned one on Sept. 1st, and her adoption was final(after a year) on Dec. 21st, 1968. I'm not sure about now, but Michigan law required a one year adoption term back then. Happiest of days when she was legally ours *VBS*
And now another milestone...the BIG FOUR OH! Forty... do I feel old tonight. The second picture is of my sweet 'middle aged' daughter...LOL, with her step daughter, my #1 DGD. I spent the whole day with DD yesterday. We shopped, visited an old friend, lunched and scrapbooked. She's teaching me how. Steak for supper and a pumpkin pie with a candle...a perfect day *VBS*
And.......I got new pictures from her..*S* These are the Pillowcase Boyz!! Two favorite grandsons with the Sponge Bob cake she made last weekend for their birthdays. They are now 4 and 8 yrs.(One month and one day apart, their birthdays) The one with the hood(and an attitude!) is the one who told me "don't know, don't care" when asked when school starts...LOL And last but not least, something quilty. I made this about a year ago for DD#1's table. She picked the colors and did the cutting. I can't say I liked it at all when I pieced it, nor when I quilted it. But looking at the picture, I find it quite pleasant, rich in color and an ok piece...*VBS*

Oh what a wonderful day that must have been when she was finally yours. What a long time to wait! And that picture of her when she was 1 is sooo cute!
fabulous photos..and great story. Glad you both enjoyed a special day together! and I quite like that trip around the world..good of you to do it despite not "liking" the colors...a loving mom thing to do.
40 years, that's nearly me! Nice to see the family as well, and the quilt is nice and bright, Tracey
I think your DD and you have such a special relationship. It really is especially nice when children become adults and we have an adult/ adult relationship. But they will also always be our babies. Finn, see my blog post about foster mothers. Hugs. Katie
Where does the time go? When they are so small it seems like 40 years can never pass. How lucky you both are to have each other. Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthdays- to DD#1 & both those boys!
I really like that quilt!
Hooray for birthdays! I love the quilt, it has a irch depth to it.
