Frosty Friday Fun.....

and here's a little 'gem' to get us started *VBS* A Hudson Quilt Show quilt..first today!! Apparently this one won a prize...I hadn't noticed until I downloaded the picture. This is a Carpenter's Wheel block. The pattern was featured last spring('06) in an issue of American Patchwork and Quilting. The reason I know is that Betsy chose it to make into a quilt for her Mom. Mom wanted it in pinks and greens to match the bedroom. Betsy is DEFINITELY NOT a 'pink and green' person...LOL, but she made it, and did it beautifully. Mom loved it and the wall hanging to match. In the magazine, I believe it's called "Buggy Wheels". Check your spring issue. And then, what to my wondering eyes should appear.....
..this a.m. as I sewed at the dining room table??? Snow!! Big fluffy flakes. I ran for the camera as it was soooo pretty and unexpected *S*
But, like magic...it was hard to capture on film(unless you have a better camera or more snow!)...maybe you can see those flakes scurrying past. Before it was done, the ground was white and we had maybe a half inch in all. I scruffed through it on my way to the mail box, and gave some thought to buying some winter boots this year. Every year I give it some thought...still don't have the boots tho...*VBS*
I've been busy...have made up a dozen burp cloths for the new grandchild that Betsy and DH are expecting in time for Thanksgiving. AND...I managed to whip up a Sponge Bob pillowcase for the next-to-youngest DGS..he adores Sponge Bob and his pineapple house under the sea. With a little luck I might get to see the boys this weekend...haven't seen them since my birthday dinner back in early Oct. Remember the little scowling boy??? Yup, LOL, that's the one!

Love this quilt! I have this pattern to do someday. And I am glad the snow is your way and not mine, lol. Enjoy your grandchildren.

Oh boy -- getting to be that time. But the FIRST snowfalls, are somehow, magical. I love them, and HATE it when all the snowblowers power up, making noise, and ugly-ing up the loveliness.

Snow, snow, beautiful snow. I love snow. We had teeny, tiny flakes here this morning. I can't wait for snow to start here.

Beautiful quilt, indeed... what a tremendous job !
Aaah, winter ! I just LOVE it. I'm a winter girl - born in December - and I'm feeling so happy with everything related to it : scarves, mittens, wool hats, (boots !LOL), watching the fire in the chimney (with a cup of HOT red wine + cinnamon and brown sugar!), ... I'll stop now : you know what I mean ! VBS

Hugs & smiles to you, Finn,
Wish you see the boys this weekend!

Snow!!! What fun - I would want to crunch my way through the yard, too . . . but maybe only the backyard so the front would still look pretty.

Such beautiful fat snowflakes, it kind of surprises a person that they can be cold, too? They shoudl be warm and soft... Sounds like you have been very productive, and that is so fun at times!!

I really like that award-winning quilt, Lots and lots of pieces!!!

Snow! Oh, it looks beautiful, Finn. I love your sidebar with the Thanksgiving song, so nostalgic, one of my ultra-favorites.

I lived in the northlands for most of my life. That gray day with the skies loaded with snow is too familiar! A good day to make a quilt! I absolutely LOVE thatCarpenter's Wheel!

Wow the first snow must be wonderful.
I used to live where it snowed now & then, & it was always fun-at first!
Hope you have had a nice weekend.

Wow! That Buggy Wheels is gorgeous isn't it. I remember seeing that in the magazine and loving it then too! No snow here - it is actually in the low 60's! I'm in shorts!

Oh, snow! How very lovely! Between your picture of snow and May talking about temperatures at 22 below it really brings home how mild a November we are having.
