Scramble and Scurry....

get yourself into a 'gathering' mode. And I have to smile as I think of my wonderful California and southern blogger friends...you have no need to store up for the winter months,do you? *VBS* But this is Wisconsin...and the lesson is that of 'gathering in'. Happy Harvest Home time *S* OK..so much for that squirrel wisdom. I've not been pulling memories and life refections from my scrapbag lately. Probably you've noticed...that storyteller mode is on vacation I think. I have words, but only the reportive kind. Today I have more to report *VBS*This is as done as it will be, for awhile. The binding is finished, the stars must wait til my eyes are doing better.
And this little yellow doll quilt is utility quilted and bound now. I found this neat little doll and a My Little Pony to send with it to my newest DGD, age 2.
The sewing machine works fine and I've had fun this far with the doll from this pattern. Unfortunately I still have the facial features and hair to do. I think maybe I shouldn't have put that OFF til now. The doll in blue is the one I'm making this time. It's an old pattern so you won't find it easily.
And this is what I have quilted this week. I did an 'in the ditch' inside each 4" leaf, using the color of the leaf. Threading the needle took almost as long as the quilting...LOL. But I like it's look. now to add 3-D stems using 1/8th " satin ribbon. There are 16 leaves and the wallhanging measures 19" X 23". A quick bind and it will hang yet this fall. Now if I can just find that background fabric to use as the binding....hmmmmmm? Wonder where I put that???

Yup, the squirrels in MI are running all over with nuts in their mouths and tails flying high. They are seen everywhere. Doesn't seem like they are that smart an animal but they must be to be able to dig holes and hide those nuts and dig them back up in the winter. Love your leaf quilt. Please show it again later with the stems. Hang in there and keep sewing. What do you use to thread your machine?

Oh Finn, I do LOVE love love your Christmas quilt!!! Maybe that's what I should start working on, do ya think? :D MIGHT be ready for NEXT Christmas. LOL And your doll quilt, and your doll, oh my goodness, you've really been on a roll!! I just sat down tonight and FINALLY took a stitch in my Whig Rose applique block. Lordy, how long has it been since I had needle in hand, hmmmm. *s* I'm like those squirrels---gotta get the plants tucked away and the wood stacked by the door (which we did tonight *g*), now I'm ready for Ole Man Winter, wood fires, stew on the stove, and sewing in hand. :) Happy November, my dear friend!

I think I've gathered in enough the last few falls quilting wise to see me through many a winter... Your fall leaves quilt is great -- I love the colours and the "every which way" the leaves are falling :-)

So many wonderful projects! I love the striped binding on your Christmas quilt. And your doll really inspires me to make one myself. I've been thinking about dolls lately, and I ran across a pattern I like in an old magazine that I may try.

You've been busy! We are getting into winter mode up here too and surprised that there is no snow yet and it's already November. Not complaining though.
