Theirs, Mine and the Real Deal....

I'm flunking the WIP Wednesday, enough political ads already! Here's what is happening in my corner of the world. This is the broken dishes quilt in the Prairie Children and Their Quilts book that I showed last Thursday.
And here is my freshly completed top minus borders. They will be auditioned this afternoon. It seemed like alot of cutting, the need for 48 of the scrappy HST's....but I stuck to it and even made extra. I'm quite pleased with how it looks and the fabrics I chose. Some of the scraps I used are from the 1980's and a reproduction line of Museum prints from that era.
And since I'm lucky enough to have found this Orphan block of broken dishes, and quilted it up as a square, I had a good reference of how scrappy this project could actually be and look authentic. What do you think? Do you like what I did?
I'm going to get the borders on, and then hand quilt it. I think a simple cross hatching through the centers, diagonally. I enjoyed it so much, I've selected the Bear Paw as my next little quilt from that book...the colors are richer...hurray for that!!!

Hi, Finn. These are the cutest things. Aren't scraps wonderful? I do like the quilting you did on the one block. Really cute. I keep giving my scraps away to the mother of the little girl I gave my sewing machine to. Happy Valentine's Day!

I do like what you did!! I think the Broken Dishes pattern lends itself so nicely to that older fabric. And you have chosen some really great colours for the quilt.

It is amazing though how much cutting a scrap quilt requires -LOL

Very nice. I do love scrappy quilts the best. I wonder if I'll ever make a more ordered quilt? I wouldn't mind a 2 colour quilt like red and white. I've 'sort of' commited to making a green and white pine tree quilt for my Mum, but I haven't bought the fabric yet.

Oh I love your broken dishes! and the 4 patch with half square triangles, I've been trying to figure out what to do with all my 4 patch leader and enders, this might be the one! Your cat would would not mingle looks just EXACTLY like our black cat. He mingles, bu ton his own terms. He is not what you call a lap cat, but he is pretty entertaining.

Oh AND, I forgot to ask, do you have some kind of directions for your crocheted rugs? I want to do that, but I'm clueless.
