the minutes are slipping away and 2008 is drawing to a close. With the chimes of the midnight hour, our New Years Eve Challenge ends.
Seventy two blogging friends joined forces, and on August 25th, we set forth to see if we could reduce the number of UFOs(or Pigs in a Poke, to quote Annie of Quilt til you Wilt). The goal was large...well over 300 to be finished up. That is a HUGE number of unfinished projects, but we were undaunted. Personally, I had been feeling quite overwhelmed by the number of projects staring me in the face. I bravely chose 5, then upped my goal to 8, and have managed to finish 12. Those I chose to count for the challenge. I finished up two smaller ancient ones that I didn't count, and 3 totally newly begun projects that I took to completion. I'm very, very happy with the outcome. I never could have, or would have accomplished that much without the friendship, support and enthusium of those who stitched with me. We are are winners, and each finish is a VICTORY!! The clock has just chimed 10, and I have done a prelimenary count of "finishes". I have that number, but am going to wait until tomorrow to publish it, since it's not New Years Day as yet. I loved getting Maria's note earlier today, letting me know of her last finish and that it was already tomorrow where she was in Denmark *VBS* Thank you Maria, I loved hearing that from you *VBS* God Bless each of you and the Happiest of New Years to all. Hugs, Finn

I finished all of my projects plus 1. :D I feel great about it. I'm going to have to challenge myself again. There are many, many more waiting in the wings.
Well done Finn! Funny how I thought I'd finish way more than my 6. As it turned out I didn't, because once those 6 were done I focused on moving several projects along closer to being finished. I'm very happy with what I accomplished - with the help of everyone in blogland, and especially you.
Wishing you a marvelous New Year - and sending thanks for the regular inspiration you give to the rest of us.
Happy New Year. Finn, I don't think I remembered to tell you my progress. I finished a UFO and a new project. I also made substantial progress - into a top the other UFO - it is now a top. I'm going to count that as having met my requirement of two finishes.
Woo hoooo, what a great chalange. Thanks for setting it in motion Finn!
And happy new year to you too Finn :o)
Happy New Year to you Finn! Thanks for hosting the NYE-Challenge! It has been fun! I look forward to reading the final tally... 8-)
Happy New Year! I love you for your friendship, wit and charm!
I got side tracked from quilting ... and crocheted SIX blankets!
I still have a few quilting projects, but mostly: my stash is organized!
I learned how to do binding during this challenge. I had always done the pillow flip thingy. I learned how to use my humble machine to do quilting ... HUGE step for me!
And I even packaged up and sent orphans to Cher. (She didn't send em back, they must have found a home!)
SO: I feel infinitely successful!
Amazing what you've accomplished since August! And kudos to everyone else who participated and finished up old projects. I know just reading about the challenge motivated me to get things done I might not have otherwise. What a great way to begin the new year!
Hi Finn! Pretty quilt there...just right for leaders and enders.
