The Week That Was....

and is now nearly over. One of those weeks when you get "stuff" done, but don't necessarily have anything to say...*VBS* Yup, that was this week. Things happened, but not noteworthy. Baby L got his first haircut. The baby curls are gone. Mama cried but Daddy held firm and he now has a big boy haircut. Been there...5 times. The first cut is the hardest. He's a growing, happy, running boy, but still doesn't talk much. He can, but doesn't. Worries Mama, Granny Finn says "keep an eye on his ears".
The road to No Where, that always leads to Some Where, was the road I traveled this past week. I've been watching WI grow green again. It's been an uphill battle, with temps ranging from freezing last night, to 70+ highs in some daytimes. Another freeze warning for us tonight. Luckily, being born and raised in WI, I know better than to plant before Memorial Day. Betsy is heavily into her gardening just now, and Jean has been dealing with some difficult family issues. No kids or grandkids sighted anywhere, and I've stayed home. The sewing room really needed a spring cleaning and that has been happening all week. Projects sorted and bagged, fabric fondled and refolded, and some sewing *VBS*
The weather has really been a "mixed bag". A blue plate special, I guess, with a little bit of this and whole lot of that, and wind, wind, wind that just won't quit. It has blown steadily through out the night, with gust up to 40 mph. Out here on the edge of the prairie, that's alot!! We always have more breeze than in town, but this type of wind is just plain nasty. It sends the garbage cans rolling and any stray ball from a neighborhood child is gone, gone, gone. Kites wouldn't stand a chance. Even the birds are walking...LOL.

Hi there friend. Our weather has been unreal too. Frost, snow, rain and today sun with the promise of warmer temps. We won't be planting our garden this long weekend, hopefully next weekend. I so want to get out there in the dirt and play. Your pictures are great....that little guy is so cute and looks all boy. Have a wonderful weekend.

We've had horrendous wind in Texas, up to 60mph and more. Maybe it is going on up to WI......or maybe the other way around. I have planted for several weeks and all is done for this year....unless I see another plant that looks interesting. Bluebonnets were kinda scarce this year because of lack of moisture over the winter. But I managed to gather lots of bluebonnet and wildflower fabrics this spring! And that little boy is a precious little one. What bright brown eyes!

Out here in So Calif we have lots of wind in our beach town--sometimes I get so tired of it--but it isn't really bad unless it is accompanied by fog and is cold! This time of year I find you have to change clothes four times a day: in the morning you need sweats or jeans and a warm sweater for the overcast and fog. Mid morning the fog lifts and you can get by with pants and a shirt but still want covered feet. Early to late afternoon it feels hot if you are outside long and you change shoes to sandals and wear a light T shirt or even shorts. By early evening the fog moves back in with the wind and you're back in jeans and a sweater! But we don't have frost or freezing temps here, for which I'm thankful. Hope you get some time outdoors soon. The big boy is beautiful with his haircut!

I've had a week that was that would have been better off 'wasn't'. For one day, I made 10 phone calls in 2 hrs looking for 4 sets of my family possibly stuck at the epi-center of the Missouri tornado. Our family ESP prevailed. They spent the night in St. Louis and missed it by hours. Then I was long distance to my mothers Alzheimer's panic when she woke up with no sign of my dad anywhere in their house...another 5 phone calls to get her help and the epi-center of the tornado moved to their house when my dad came home. He'd left her home alone and gone shopping. Then I say just the wrong thing to someone else and without knowing I'd triggered it, the epi-center headed South. Gosh, I could have used your zig zag road sign this week for sure ;) Sometimes, not much happening is actually as good as it can get..ha!

we had some wind too! glad you have been busy but not overdoing it. It's great to clean in the sewing room and let those creative urges build up.

Our weather is fluctuating too. Predictions for next week are up in the 90's! Hot! Cute little guy at bathtime. Our last frost date is usually around Mother's Day but if we plant tender items like tomatoes, then the Wall 'O Waters are really useful.

Seems like the weather has been a trial all across the land this week. Soon enough it will settle into it's summer routine . . . . then will we be wishing for some of what we have now? *s*

They say a smile is worth a thousand words, and this definately applies here. I agree to watch his ears, and then my mother is in my head saying, "he will talk when he has something to say."

Hang tight in that weather.......just think you could be basking in our 105 degree, no breeze, dry heat! Yuck!

We have had wild & woolly winds too. Not the usual Autumn weather, but I guess it helps whirl the leaves off the trees.
I love you unusual quilts, & your kitche sinks!
Congrats on your winnings, how lovely to get some fresh fabrics for your stash!
