What's new in the Valley???

Well, *this* for one thing *VBS* And now you are wondering what is "this"...right? And here's the answer *VBS* I had some CD's that matured in late May. Normally I either roll them into another term, or move them to a bank paying more percentage. Not much point in doing that this year. And then there is the reality of the unending need for "assistance" from my youngest DS. Several CDs have been cashed out on his behalf over the past couple of years. So I did a reality check on ME!!
The conclusion I came to was if I didn't use some of my "house"(sold in 2002)money", it would all be gone, and not for me. I've been driving a perfectly(???)good 1995 Pontiac Grand Am. You've seen it in pictures of my house. I bought when my divorce was final in Oct/1996. It's been a super good little car. Good gas mileage, and has only needed minor repair over the years. But recently it has begun to show its age, and in the past few months that has speeded up. So I decide to see what was out there for a car that would bring me into the 21st century...LOL.
I didn't really expect to come home with this one, a 2003 Pontiac Bonneville. It is, however, a one owner car and a non smoker. Driven locally, low mileage and has all the bells and whistles that cost soooo much when new. It drives and rides like a dream and finally...a working AC!!! The price was right, plus they gave me a $1,000. for my Grand Am. Now I don't have to figure out how to get rid of it *VBS*
Probably the best news in the Valley, to me at least, is that I was able to buy it outright and can honestly said "I own this car". I can also continue to claim that I am debt free *VBS*, and that sure feels good!

Congrats on getting a new car...well new to you anyway. Don't blame you at all in getting something for yourself. Sometimes Mama has to take care of Mama - and this was one of the times.

Love the color too.

Alright! So glad you got a car that is newer and very nice -- you won't have to worry about it at all. Enjoy driving around in it, and give the horn a little happy toot every now and then.

There is nothing like a new set of wheels, is there? I drive a pontiac too -- a grand prix. I love my car.

Ohh. Something for Finn at long last. Your post made me smile. If we don't get to spend money on ourselves from time to time, what is the point of hanging on to it.

A friend a mine had a lovely bumper sticker for his car which read "Spending the kid's inheritance". VBS

Good for you for spending some money on yourself--not an easy thing for lots of moms.

I am thrilled you bought yourself a "new" car Finn- nice reality check. I hope you have as many happy years and miles driving it as you did your previous ride.

Awesome, Finn! Congratulations on the new wheels and staying debt free in the bargain.

My first new car was a red Grand Am and I loved "her". She was followed by a green one who got to be very persnickity in her old age.

I am SO glad that Finn looked back and saw that Finn needed to do for herself for a change!

I will be emailing soon.....promise!

Good for you! Nice when we can buy something we need and pay cash for it! My honey is trying to have me trade in my Jeep Grand Cherokee... it's a 2000 and has a few problems... but I don't like the newer ones and the payments it would have! I say again, good for you!
