Drip,drip,drip.....

yet another rainy day in the Valley. Not exactly what one hopes for in October. And the weather guy is making it sound like this will be an all week rain. That plus temps in the 50's, well...a good day to sew or bake cookies I say! I've been trying to decide what my next UFO to finish will be.
Back in Dec. of 2007, I posted a super simple utility table runner. It's made from very little fabric, and works up quickly. I've made alot of them over the 14 yesrs I had the directions. This one happens to be 14 yrs old. It only comes out at christmas to use under something or another. You can find the directions and pictures on my sidebar, down under labels. It will say A tutorial for a simple utility table runner.
This is the one I started along with the directions, so I could take you through it step by step.
By Dec. 7th, I had it to this stage. Square vs. rectangle(which is easy to do) and then I just "quit" with it. Its one of my bad habits. I'm not proud of it, but I do acknowledge that I have a tendency to "set things aside" at a certain point and have difficulty getting back to them. Well, it's high time I did!! I had made quite abit more of the stratas than I needed. So I decided to enlarge this square to become a runner for my coffee table. I made 12 more of the sub-sets you see in the middle picture and added them to the ends in the correct order *VBS* I'm now to the point I need to find something in the Christmas fabric drawer for a backing. The binding will be either the nuetral background color or the dark red, I haven't decided. Next time I show it, it will be finished *VBS* and that feels sooooo good!

*** In the picture of the parts not sewn together, what you are seeing is 8 sub units. Each unit is a rectange which you join to another, getting a square.

Oh my, Finn, when I read your post, I felt like it was me you were writing about. I also start stuff and then jump to something else without finishing.....sad but true although I am a bit better about knitting projects than quilting ones. I need to jump on your UFO wagon!

Good for you. I'm like you I love making the quilt tops and then put it aside to start another one. I'm determined to get these 19 UFO's done and then I can start all over again. I'll probably do a few tops besides.

It's been raining here too. Today was sunny however they are predicting another 4 days of rain. Yesterday we got a inch and three quarters. We did need it though. Hugs and have fun quilting.

You know, I have some of that cardinal fabric . . . somewhere. I really like the table runner idea. Who knows I may even be sewing by Xmas! LOL

I recognize some of the fabrics in that finished table runner! And while I'm not planning to finish up old UFO's at this point I'll have you know I have begun to work out the plans for DGD#2's big girl quilt :- )

well, you have been busy! finishing your first ufo and decorating for upcoming Halloween. We seem to be getting some sun right now, but the rain clouds are still threatening.
I am almost ready to try quilting on the kitchen table! I needed to use a different machine and do not want to swap out machines in my cabinet..works for me today.

Finn you are so funny... what you think that your the "only" one who just throws her hands up and drops the ball on a project! No such thing! At least your getting to them! Way to go girl!
By the way... your little spooky bear is cute! I may have to get out some of my stuffed friends and do the same! My grandkids would love it!

I do the same thing. My dear husband said it is someone with a very creative mind, who jumps around from one thing to the next. I love your starts, and the dozens of finishes too!
