A most excellent day...

Despite the gray and gloomy weather, it was a most satifactory day. I managed to get some of the household chores done, and spent some time sewing on another elderly UFO. I cut enough additional triangles to bring the count up to the 68 HSTs needed, and have them all sewn into pairs.
Best of all, I tackled the HUGE roll of 90" Warm and Natural batting and got batting measured and cut for 7(yes, 7) tops!! Got two of them pinned and am ready to put a few stitches in the first one.
A couple of the tops I cut batting for still need another row of blocks or borders attached, but I allowed for that in my cutting. I came across the W&N all cotton, on sale for half price at JoAnn Fabrics, online only. I ordered the 90" roll which held 40 yds. Product price $158- tax added bringing it up to $166. Shipping was free with one of their coupons. I have the invoice here in front of me. I usually make notations of how many quilts I get from such an investment. Today I cut for 2 that will be 90" X 90", 1 that is 72" X 90", two smaller ones I got from one 38" WOF, and 2 that are in the 60" X 80" range. It looks like I have about half the roll left *VBS* A very good day, I'd say!

Finn, Finn, Finn. It sounds like you are back on your game! I should have mentioned that cutting batting is another chore I dislike so you totally ROCK for cutting SEVEN quilts' worth of batting. Is that Joann sale still on? I should have bought back then. next time!!
I got TWO more UFOs done. I will post photos on my blog tonight. I have the back made and trimmed for the 5th UFO and I will quilt it this weekend. WOO HOO!! I love a good kick in the rear.

You're on a roll. Great job and great price on the cotton. I often use sheets for my backing. I know, I know as a quilter I'm not suppose to. Yet I've found that sheets work wonderfully for many of my quilts.

I have #7 pinned and ready to start quilting tomorrow. Hugs

Oh I forgot to say I so want to work on the HST's I have, yet I promised myself not until I finish the last 3. I can't wait to start all over again.

Love that term "elderly UFO" giving respect it is due! LOL Getting batting unfolded and cut is always a good thing. Sounds like you got a good deal too.

Very good day, indeed. Good on you, dear Finn. I had a good day too. The third UFO is all quilted. Still need to cut and sew binding but that will have to wait. The house chores have been badly neglected and I'm off to see the grandkids tomorrow. Time for a break from the sewing room!

What a good idea! You got a really good deal and don't have to go to the store as much! I'll have to think about doing that when I run out. It's a good idea to cut out a bunch at the same time. I really do not like cutting the batting. I usually try to baste several quilts at a time while I have the tables set up in the garage.

My goodness, Finn, you are ablaze right now!! You go, girl!! :) That was a fabulous buy in the batting. BTW, I was wrong (can you imagine that? LOL) about the Jacks block. The one I see in my mind is in Fons and Porter (I think) and done in plaids. I searched through all of my Thimbleberries books and didn't find the 'one', and decided it's F&P. I just can't lay my hands on that particular book at the moment. Nevertheless, I do LOVE that block and KNOW that I have 'the page' marked in one of these zillions of books. ROFL

I spent a wee bit of time last night working on an 'extra' which I'll share a photo of. :)
