Well, as I said yesterday, I am going to show you a few older quilts. I still own a few of the quilts from the 1970's, but need to take pictures of those. And I have quite a few from the 1980's. This is a top, Jewel Box pattern that I pieced for a firend's first grandchild. She asked me to make the top and then she had it machine quilted up in Duluth, MN. The fabrics are all Roberta Horton type plaids, the background a tea dyed muslin. I really like the look of it and probably would make this one again from plaids. The year was 1995.

That is beautiful!! I love the pattern and colors. Just yesterday I came across a magazine article featuring 'Charm Quilts'. The whole quilt is made of triangles but what makes it special is that no fabric has been used more than once. I'm sure you have heard of these....have you made any Charm Quilts? They aren't as beautiful as the planned quilt patterns in my (humble) opinion! Still, very interesting and maybe the charm lies in the seeing. The article says they were first made in the 1860s. It said too, that the idea of charm quilts was borrowed from...button collecting which was popular at that time.

Tea dyed muslin is so pretty. I love character it gives a quilt.

I loved those Roberta Horton plaids and stripes. Are they even still making them? Sure wish they would. I was even able to get some in black, green and blue.
