Good Morning friends, my right eye is still abit "flibbie-jib" this morning, but the sun is up and so am I,,,*VBS* Most of you know, I'm on a mission to finish UFO's this year. This is a wallhanging top I pieced in a guild workshop many years ago. The guild book Helen Thorne and this is one of her patterns. I like it, don't love it, but like it ok, since I did it "my way". It's laid out on a backing for a different quilt. The top critters are mosquitoes..they need seed bead eyes and an embroidered "stinger". The fish jumping in that strange body of water will get seed beads also...and who knows what else...LOL. BEST part of this wallhanging is how upset I made poor Helen. You see, I LIKE that sky fabric..yes it IS directional(a big no-no that day), and since I INSISTED on using it she told me to BE SURE to keep it all goiing the same direction...LOL..ya right!!! Needless to say, I probably gave her a migraine and my cabin became the cabin in the swamp to the other gals..LOL. "Storm Brewing..." would be a good title for this one. But I'm sharing it, as today is the day it gets basted. Still trying to decide if I like it enough to hand quilt or just "do" what I can on the machine, which is mostly "in the ditch". I could always do that and then embellish. What do you all think?? Wanna vote??? No prize tho.... Posted by Picasa

I think you should do what YOU want to do, Finn. Whatever makes YOU happy...go for it! :o) My new philosophy. :oP LOL! I, personally, LOVE that quilt and am SO glad that you did it YOUR way.
Still praying for that eye of yours! (((HUGS)))

My vote is on the machine, the quicker the better..... Congrats on your UFOs. Glad you are seeing better.

I like the idea of getting the quilting out of the way and then spending a bit of extra time embellishing. But a nice lap project might be nice, now. Hope your eye mends.

I like your little cabin and trees. Gotta love those little fishies, too. Can't wait to see the finished mosquitos!!! :-)

I was just asked to be one of the camp directors at our church girl's camp. I really want to make a quilt that includes this years theme, along with cabins, trees, stars...you get the idea. I need to give Tonya's letters a try.

I love your swamp quilt, especially the water fabric. What a great choice! I vote for machine quilting around the fish, skeeters and other elements. It will go quickly and you can move on to your next project!

I like it, Finn -- but I'd machine quilt it and get it done! I'm sure there's another ufo just waiting for you in the background!

machine quilt it. You don't love it enough to spend the time hand quilting it.
that sky doesn't look directional to me. Amazes me what some people get worked up about...

Yeah...Tonya took the words right out of my mouth. Your sky is terrific!!! Great little village that you have going too.

You're going to have me doing some wonky houses yet...to go with my wonky trees and wonky log cabin blocks.

You keep sewing and blogging away!!!
