It drives me absolutely crazy when I can't sew! Whether the power if off because of a storm, or my machine is gone for cleaning...or...because my eyes are playing games, it makes me crazy. In the case of my eyes, I can get around it somewhat by sewing what isn't seam allowance critical. I had some of these Strip Twist, a pattern at Bonnie's Quiltville, made up. So I joined then in the 4 section blocks and then laid them out. I only need the top to be 40" X 60" for WTIL, so it's a full 3 blocks and a single row added at the out side edge. Once I get borders on it...it's a UFO finish !! So something good came from this "down" time. Yesterday, it occurred to me that Tonya's letters would be quite forgiving in the seam department..that's up next..*VBS* Posted by Picasa

I cannot imagine you really sitting still for 'down time'. Wrap Them in Love will love this one too.

Let those eyes be restored soon!

That type of set with strips of scraps always amazes and delights me. It looks like fractured light such as seen in beveled glass.

The quilt looks great. I can't believe you did it with your eyes closed! Well maybe not literally but close enough.

I like this pattern - have done one myself - the scrappier the better, I say.

Trust me the letters are very forgiving! It drives my husband crazy because he says I'm not paying attention while I make the letters! Hope the eyes are feeling better.

So glad you 're feeling better and back to sewing!

How big of a strip-twist quilt are you going to make? I love all your colors in that one. :)

Another great quilt! Try getting a strip of mole skin (sold in the pharmacy for corns on your feet) and run it right along the edge of your machine at the 1/4" mark. It will make a nice, long 1/4" guide for you to run your fabric along as you sew - it might help.

Cheers!
