Making Progress...slowly. Well, Blogger isn't playing nicely this morning, so I'll try Picasa Hello. Thre are the blocks for LItle Sam's quilt. I laid them out on the floor(no design wall) to see if I can move them around enough to be happy with them. I'm not thrilled rigfht now. I think the darkest one in tep row had to go. And can't seem to think what color the sashing should be...I'm leaning towards blue..and suggestions????? Posted by Picasa

Sashing - Do you have a "man plaid?" (You know, dark blue &/or green) Or I can see a Thimbleberry plaid sashing real well with those blocks...

Oh, I do so love your scrappy stars quilt! I am working on one like it--a Jo Morton pattern. You know what? I love yours WITHOUT sashing!!!

I think blue would be splendid - maybe a blue plaid as suggested - I do so love plaids :o)

Blue would be great for a boy, what about a dark brown? Just thinking, it might not work.

Blue of some sort would work---the blocks look good but then so does block to block just like you got them laid out.

I was thinking a dark red for sashing and a narrow inner border, then maybe blue as an outer border?

Is it meant to be a guy quilt? I see the catcher's mitt and ball in one, but I'd hate to assume it's for a boy when it could be for a liberated gal! Is Sam for Samuel or Samantha?

I'd vote for red, blue, deep green or a plaid with those colors. :)

Why must there be sashing? I think it works very well without.

I'm late reading your last few posts. Horror of horrors - somehow when I subscribed to blogs using bloglines I missed yours! Not sure how that happened, as i went from blog to blog around the ring. So glad you are fine and really posting!

Anyway, I think the stars look great. I don't know that I'd get rid of the dark one on the top. I think I'd just move it to a place it wasn't so evident - not around the edge anywhere and not in the middle either. A blue border will be perfect!

Just reread it - you said sashing, not borders. Red or blue would be great, but none would be fine also.
