Summertime...1987
....vacationing at Wisconsin Dells. That handsome guy in the rose tank top is my oldest son...he had just graduated and would be heading off to college to playfoot ball. My oldest daughter in the white, was a working gal, two years past graduation. The other 3 are the ones my older kids call "the little guys". We adopted all of them as "singles", no one is related to anyone else in our family, but the 5 of them came in just 9 years. Not too shabby...and definitely a handful!
All are married now, or have been, and only the 3 boys have children. They have given me a house full of boys. DD#1 married, divorced 3 years later, and went on to marry her high school sweetheart...many, many years after their breakup when she was 18. She will be 39 this year, and has been married to B. for 5 years. He has a daughter from his first marriage, so I have one claim to a granddaughter..*VBS*

Also want to thank you ALL for the hugs, and dentist advice...the jury is "out" on that one til after I hear the consultation finding. Just not sure what I will do. And about my machine quilting, she says...?? The curves that I am playing with aren't free motion. I'm trying to see what I can get WITHOUT dropping the feeddogs. When I drop them, I get into all sort of trouble..*VBS*. So everything you saw, was controlled....and just "wanderings". But thanks for believing it was free motion....*G* Stay cool everyone!!

You don't have to drop the feed dogs to free motion. Or at least I don't on my machine--the darning foot does all the bouncing and you have to hang on for dear life, LOL.

Nice looking group of kiddos there.

Lovely children you have - looks like a happy family. Enjoy your grandchildren.

Take the step and lower the feed dogs - you will not regret it. You can draw the pattern you want to do and follow the line. You can do it! Make some practise squares and give it a try. They will make lovely potholders anyway :-)

That's a good lookin' group you've got there. It's fun to think back on those vacations and to hear the memories the kids have of those days. Our daughter usually has just a little bit different memory than we do. It's sweet.

I can attest to not having to drop your feed dogs. I have forgotten that step on more than one quilt top. I can manage either way. Have fun with it.

Wisconsin Dells is one of my favorite places. My little son and I had a great visit there many years ago. Love those ducks!

Finn, I've been to the Dells several times in my life...as I child we went to visit my grandparents in Racine every other year. I remember seeing the "cow in the milk bottle" etched on the side of one of the walls and watching a dog jump from one cliff to the other. Poor dog! I know it's become quite a tourist mecca.

Good luck with the dentist. I had the same sort of thing happen...had a little tooth pain when eating and it has turned into 2 root canals and crowns. Step one was this morning, the first (and worst) root canal. It wasn't so bad, but then again, the anesthesia hasn't completely worn off yet!

What a great bunch of children you've got there Finn. Time has a way of sneaking up on us, doesn't it?
As far as the dentist...I'm probably no help. REALLY don't like visiting them. I've been in the position you are in...it's a hard spot. Prayers help...and you can count on them from me. :o)

I've done lots of waves and arcs with the walking foot like you did and they come out just fine. You can do just what you did here on a larger quilt!! It just involves a bit more turning. I think it would work well with the pieced sections. Makes for easier turning.

Wonderful family of kids!! Great looking bunch. Aren't older pictures funny to look at. The clothes, the hairstyles! You are indeed blessed!

You have a wonderful looking bunch of kids. The kids & I often look back at pictures and we all get started telling our stories of our trips. It's funny how everyone remembers things differently isn't it?

Okay you have me puzzled!! I've seen my profile in the same spot, forever. It's never moved on my screen. YOURS hasn't moved on my screen either. I was on the other day when you put on the peach jellybean thing, I went to post something and Boom you had removed the post. But the whole time your profile never moved to my eyes. MAYBE it's something with YOUR screen, Like maybe the size or something. Did my profile dissapear about the time I got the larger monitor??

Well, that shouldn't do it. Because I didn't change anything. I don't know what to tell you. Nobody else has said anything to me, and I checked all our machines and it's there? I'm thinking it must have something to do with your screen size or something or what's showing up and somehow kicking off my profile and YOURS when you post something big like the jelly bean pic.

Great family-how wonderful that you were all able to find each other and grow together.
Good luck with the dentist. And with the machine quilting.

Your son was quite -- as we called them *back then* -- the hunk! (I graduated in '87 as well!)

A very nice family portrait. And I suppose you, like most Moms, were behind the camera. Right?!

Love your wandering in the previous post, Finn! It looks fun...freeing!

You may have some cool weather approaching your way. It *only* got the the mid-80s today!
