What happened to my nice neat stash??? Looks like something measurable on the richter scale happened here. And this is just one side of it. I'm hoping for a nice all day rain, and I can just sit and straighten this mess up again. I have lots of small, odds and ends that I'm planning on cutting into useable strips.

oh, how i hate to straighten and sort!! I did it recently when I could not find two items I had recently bought and left in my sewing room. They were swallowed up. So i straightened up and put things away. one bag of beads is still MIA!!

you are again inspiring me to sort my scraps and cut into strips and squares. but one inspiration at a time, back to the dreaded HSTs.!!

Someone should measure the time that it takes to straighten it up and how long it takes a relatively active quilter to get it back like that again. Like I would love to see Lois Hallock's (or whatever her name is) of the stash organizer book looks like after she is done cutting out a quilt.

Creativity tends to create clutter or you ain't doing it right!

Do your creativity do an impact on the Richter scale ? Big smile ! Do a 5-minuter a couple of times and you will be all right again :-)

It is satisfying to straighten up even if it doesn't last long. Usually you find a treasure or two that you forgot you had. Makes it all worth while.

When you finish yours would you like to come do mine? It pretty much looks like the same tornado that came thru my sewing room hit yours too. LOL!

A much much bigger storm blew thu my sewing room. Amazing how I can function best when it is like that. Maybe that just says I don't function very well any time. :)
Now I need to make a sign that has Linda's words of wisdom!

Looks like creativity was happening here! Sure wish we could figure out a way to get a piece of fabric off the bottom of a stack without disturbing the rest of the stack. Every time I straighten things I tell myself that I will carefully lift all the fabric off of the piece I want, and then put it back. That resolution lasts less than 10 minutes when I'm in a creative tizzy!

Finn,I hate to say this, but that looks tidy to me! I have true chaos at my place...but I am not showing just how bad! * vbs* have fun straightening up and cutting.

I don't think it's you at all Finn - I reckon it was the evil stash messer fairy who got in when you were asleep - she comes to my sewing room too - in fact as she seems to get everywhere at once I believe she may be Father Christmas's alter ego :o)

Personally, I like it.

I am lucky to keep all my stuff behind doors, but I must confess to having the cursed organization gene that makes me constantly straighten and sort. Good in some things...bad in other ways. I iwsh I could hop on a plane and come sort out your room for you. What fun!! for me anyway.

Pick a stack and just start making piles on one shelf. I agree with Hanne, that a few minutes here and ther and it will be done and all sorted in no time!

My, those folded-up quilts look nice. I'm with Cher, the closet doesn't look bad to me at all lol.

When you get done I have lots of piles you can sort thru and clean up.. they aren't material though just books, magazines, and my soap supply cabinet really looks bad! LOL hope you are having a great week. Whenever the quilt gets put together and quilted I will send you a photo. Hope its cooler where you are than here... 101F

It looks well used thats all. And used in moments of inspiration when neatness is not the focus. Creative minds don't always take neatly from a stack !

Ah-ha! Those North Dakota winds reached you once again, right Finn! And gusted through your stash! Right Finn?! ;-)

Nah...I know better...that's is just creativity and genius at work!

Love your crusty. What a sweet gift. Friends are always close...no matter how many miles are between them.

Love that bargello too! I need to make one. Say...when you say *bargello,* do you say bar-jello...or bar-ghello? Just curious!

Waiting for it to rain is a GOOD excuse for not cleaning and sorting... :) Think I'll have to remember that, since we're in a hot, dry spell.

When I read Anne's post, all I could think was that I have TWO evil stash messer fairies - and I even know their names!

Ahhh, you're a quilter! You're 'sposed to have a creative clutter around you! LOL

I started straightening up my stash room and just gave up. I'd rather be sewing!

Great fabrics there! And love the new Civil War ones you just got!

That's how Jimmy & I operate around here...we wait for a nice slow rain and then we get busy dusting & vacuuming and cleaning things up.
