Ze bears...Ze bearz...where have they gone??? I have zee quilt for zee picnic....ze bearz, ze bearz....
Poor Pierre Teddy..the day is sunny and very bright and they have left for the 100 acre woods without him. Run Pierre, run.
And did you see that vintage quilt he's hauling to the woods??(click on picture to enlarge) My goodness but that looks like one of MINE. If it is, it's based on a 1" grid. Made up as HST's and laid out in a light and dark squares pattern. Since I'm lucky enough to have a good supply of vintage fabric, it wasn't difficult to make. And the oldest blacks and blues, one or two orphan flying geese blocks that I cut up did the trick. Even the lattice and binding are vintage. The striped blue and white being a package of purchased bias tape. The back is blue and white feed sack. I call this on "Rock Bottom Blues" and made it back in the winter of 1989 into 1990. It's machine pieced and hand quilted. And it lives with me..*S* Now the question is "can I get it back from Pierre Teddy?"

I think I'd cede ownership of that one to Pierre. Looks like he has no intention of giving it back. Lovely little Finn quilt. :-)

From Winnie the Pooh:
"Rabbit's clever," said Pooh thoughtfully.
"Yes," said Piglet, "Rabbit's clever."
"And he has Brain."
"Yes," said Piglet, "Rabbit has Brain."
There was a long silence.
"I suppose," said Pooh, "that that's why he never understands anything."

The moral (to me)is: So many times we over-think things instead of enjoying them..

Awesome quilt, Almost my favorite so far of yours. And guess what? I love the binding - it's my favorite part.
Take care
Melanie

Finn,

I have spent part of my afternoon reading through your blog and learning so much about you!! You should be so proud of the work you've done, the family you raised, and the quilts you have made spreading much love to those who have received them!!

Your blog is one of my favorites and I want to thank you for your honesty and openness to your fellow quilters!!

keep it scrappy!!!

Vintage scraps, half-square triangles, what more could a bear want?

Beautiful quilt, but it looks like Pierre isn't going to give up. Perhaps you have enough scraps to make one for you.

Great quilt, Finn. Love those off-grain plaids. I agree with you about that Roberta Horton Scrap Quilts book - it is one of my absolute favorites. I definitely learned about off-grain plaid from her.

You could make another for Pierre! ;-)

This little quilt is just a treasure, Finn. It is so cheerful looking! I like the name that you've given it. Perhaps it helped you through some rough times?

I would sure love to dive into your vintage fab collection. If you wake up one morning and find them missing.... ;-)
