August 19, 1935...... a
lifetime of hopes, dreams and happiness ahead of them.
Sweetheart roses in softest pink, a pale pink organda dress and hat...my beautiful mother married my handsome father in Chippewa Falls, WI. Their trusty Model T Ford decorated with crepe paper.
So long ago. And yet, as their first born child how could I not remember their anniversary. Both have been gone for many years now, but dates and pictures linger. Life has taught me that any month at all, is a perfectly good time for beginnings.....or endings. And then time just keeps flowing into the next and the next.

Purple Patches...the lump sum

total
sewing
for this
past week.
6 appointment
in 4 days
all but did me
in...LOL. I managed to cut some strips the other night and piece a few simple 9 patches to set with a focus fabric block. Obviously NO thought or planning was involved. I just needed to sew.
I can only speak for myself, but it seems that some combination of age and state of mind creates a dust storm in my head, and it's quite easy for me to get lost in the shuffle. Not physically lost as much as in my head. I rarely accept more than one appointment, two at the max, in any one week. So this past couple of weeks was "over the top" for me.
Everything changes based on "pulling" one card from the deck...and having the tooth pulled and then the MRI, each invasive in its own way, really capped off the week.
I'm feeling better today, and hope to be back to my old Finn self soon. Then I'll regroup and jump in. I'm behind of reading blogs and leaving comments...sorry about that...*VBS* Only one more weekend and then it's Sept...oh my! Posted by Picasa

Thanks for sharing the photo of your parents.
I'm glad your appointments are settling down and you are able to get back to a more regular routine. I don't care for too many things on my schedule either.
Have fun putting your purple patches together and getting back to something quilty.

Thank you so much for sharing your parents anniversary. My parents would have been married 53 years this past week. August 16th. What a bittersweet day that is for me now with Mama gone and Daddy all but. But they did have almost 52 loving years together and produced 4 children who turned out pretty good if I can be so bold as to claim myself to be good. :-)

I like your purple 9-patches. Sometimes you just HAVE to sew and who can go wrong with a 9-patch. It's the pattern that I turn to everytime I have to sew something but can't decide what. Timeless and so pretty no matter how you set it. I know "Finn" will be back when you're ready and able. In the mean time here's hugs and prayers for you to use as needed. :-)

(((((HUGS)))))

foggy brain syndrome I think is our body's way of taking a rest emotionally. Sounds like its been a hellish couple of weeks, and some Foggy brain time might be called for :-)

You definitely need to regroup after the week you have put in--the sewing will still be there when you are ready. FYI: I saved Broken Dishes and the bowties out for the boys but know that you are fine with that.

So much fun to look at old pics and remember. Life is not a straight line. Lots of curves and dips, and hills. Hang in there.

I really wish I lived closer, as I just want to run on over and hug you! I'm so pleased you're starting to feel better, let's pray this is the fresh writing of a new page of health for you.
The picture of your parents is just lovely. Sometimes I wish I lived back then, times seemed much simpler, and lives intertwined ...

I'm right there with you playing catch-up. Glad to see you're doing better. Just take it slow, and everything will fall into place.

((((((Finn)))))) Just wanted to stop by and give you a hug! I'm also playing catch up. Working long hours doesn't leave me enough sewing or blogging time. I haven't even had time to sew on the weekends til now! SO nice to get back in the sewing room, so I know how you feel.

At least the appointments are behind your for now. I don't blame you at all for having that "lost" feeling - I think all of us can relate to that at one time or another. Here's hoping and praying that you get answers and solutions to the things that have been bothering you.

Thanks so much for sharing the lovely pictures of your parents.

Wedding anniversaries are always important dates to remember. What a beautiful wedding picture. My parents will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary this coming January.

Sorry to hear you've been having a tough time. I'm sending some positive thoughts your way for you to feel better soon.
