Good Morning from the north woods...and a cool gray 60 degree morning at that. I'm still in my sewing
slump, but I decided that I should dig out something to baste and quilt. Actually, this one seems perfect to me..*VBS*

Its from a very old(1980's) Country Threads pattern.
So many of those were incredibly putzy! This one is no exception. But I love it. I think Paul is really fine, and ya just gotta love babe.

These tree are a personal favorite of mine, and I think I could do a whole wallhanging of just them in
different sizes.

I also am very found of these tiny flying geese. They are 1.5" X 2.5". The lodge works for me also, and that tea dyed red and cream flag striped fabric is the one I have yards and yards of, if someone needs a piece. I'm feeling really happy and upbeat this morning, and I think this little wall hanging did the trick! Have a great Wednesday everyone...*VBS* Posted by Picasa

I can hear the cheer in your "voice" as I read your words this morning. A very cute wallhanging. I think working on this one will keep you smiling all day!

I love the stories of Paul Bunyan. I can remember the teachers reading to use like it was yesterday. Thanks for making me remember. Cute quilt. A classroom would love to borrow that one...

So many "slumps" going on in blogland lately. :-( I'm trying hard to NOT let myself slide into one.

I like your wallhanging. What a happy one to pull you out of a slump. ((HUGS)) my friend.

Mr. Paul is very fine, indeed! Great quilt, Finn! It's sure to make you smile from ear to ear as you work on it today!

Quilting on the delightful blue Babe should be just the ticket to chase the blues away *s* What a cute pattern. Sometimes the kitschy ones are just the ticket.

Wow, I haven't thought about Paul Bunyan since I moved away from the midwest 25 years ago! This is a cute project!
Have a GOOD day.

Finn, I love Babe and Paul. I have an old Country Threads book which I love. The Old Lady in the Garden quilt I did for my friend came from Country Threads. I love their patterns.

You sound exceptionally chipper for someone in a 60 degree Gray day... keep smiling

How cute and just the project you need to get you moving and sewing! I think it's the perfect thing for a nice quick project!

Oh it is perfect! I just love Babe, the big blue ox. Any child would just love, love, love this (and, a-hem, at least 1 adult!). My Little Boy just delights in stories and I read him the same ones over and over and over again until he has them entirely memorized.

Cheers!

Putzy or country but it is really cute and even without you saying that it came from Country Threads I would probably have guessed it---I've got one of their later books with calendar themed things in it. Fall is made and even something vaguely summery inspired from it--row robin actually.

If a little quilting will help then definitely start quilting Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox.

And I will take my own advice and baste my Santa!

Those trees are on the Snowman quilt I'm working on; in fact, I am going to work out a machine quilting pattern of them. Actually I am coming out of a slump. For months, I couldn't/didn't sew. I actually blogged about it on Feb 19 and how I brought myself out of the slump. In fact, you even commented on the quilt:
"I think it IS a great quilt..
and the proof is in the making. It had a job to do, and did it very well...you are BACK...*VBS* Love your approach...the paintbucket concept."
So my advice is to just go with the flow. Something will spark you and you will start creating. /paula

I'm so glad you found something to bring a smile to your "voice". I know it's got to be rough not seeing your grandchildren regularly - especially these two because you really have no control over the situation. I love that little wall hanging. I have a bunch of those old Country Threads patterns, and love every one of them - even though I've gotten to make only a couple. One of my UFO's is a third one. Your fabric choices are so terrific on this one. I'm with you - I love what they do with blocks like the row of little flying geese and the trees. I think that's what makes their designs so very charming.

This is a wonderful piece..Love the trees and the colors.. Great job.. Enjoy quilting it.. I got John Flynn's frame yesterday and itching to try it out.. and yes, it is so hard to travel long distances to see grand kids and change our daily routine.. Not selfish just aging bones I think. Keep sewing it gives us all great joy..

it looks like you had fun making the wall hanging. Hopefully you can have fun with the basting and quilting too..

I was so very fond of so many of CT's patterns too. To me...they were a bit on the Maverick side...and that was what drew me in to them. That, and all of their animals!

What a great wallhanging, Finn! It *kept* very well!

Y'know, I keep looking for you on msn, and never see you online. I keep thinking... she must be quilting or rug-hooking up a storm... lol

I'm spending a couple of hours catching up with blogs - seems like I have the best of intentions on Monday, replying to everyone, but by Wednesday, when I come home from work, there's too many to get to!

Anyway, I think the wall hanging looks great! I've read some of the tall tales to the kids at the library, and they think they're so fun. :)
