The visit to the eye doctor went well. He found two more tiny pieces of original suture that were working their way up and out of the cornea and removed them. That probably will save me at least one emergency trip to his office. The last of the sutures from the 1998 cornea transplant came out last summer..hurray!! But..one lost its knot in the process(that gave me the eye infection this past January) and two others were "embedded" in the cornea. With the sutures out, you'd think you are home free. No quite. Because of the nature of the disease, and the muliple surgeries, I will be seeing an optholmolgist for the rest of my life. But vision is important, so I don't mind that much.
Yesterday's appt. and the one tomorrow involve the ungoing lower back pain. About time I addressed that one..and I am.
The quilt above is a queen size lovers knot(Quilt In A Day booklet) that I made for the daughter on the left. I made 5 of these that year(1998) and while 4 were tied for customers, this one was machine quilted for her. Needless to say, I won't mind if I never see another Lover's Knot. She loved the quilt, chose the fabrics and uses it still today...quess that's not all bad.

Glad to hear your eye appt was successful. Vision is so important and must be cared for. Another lovely quilt. It's a warm feeling when you know the quilt is loved and used.

I love your quilt. Your daughter looks proud. That going to the doctor business is tough. After my scare in the spring, I dread going. Like a child, I keep telling myself "they're not the bad guys...they're the ones that fix things". But I have to keep telling myself this over and over again...
Enjoy your wednesday

Glad to hear you had a good eye appointment. Now go take care of that back! (says she who lives with constant back pain!)

I do like this pattern. Very similar to Hidden Wells which I've done twice and might do again with some of my stash. It's so nice to know that something you made in love for a family member is still cherished and in use years later.

Glad to hear your appt. went well-now take care of that back! :) Nice quilt too. Yes, after making that many, I'm sure you don't want to ever do another one.

Such good news about your eye app't. I think our is by far the most importand sense for quilters, and you are so right to take as much care of yours as you do. I'll never forget a column I read in a very old Quilters Newsletter by Helen Kelly. This was about her daughter making a quilt after she'd gone blind. She'd been a quilter before, but now had no memory of colors, so they used black and white. Helen built up a tape "wall" on the machine so her daughter could feel the seam allowance. She did get it finished - what an accomplishment! But what a tragedy to happen to a quilter.

I sure hope you've got a really good supporting chair for your sewing - so important for your back, no matter how much it costs.

Eye issues....I'm dealing with some of those too and it's a frustrating path to travel. The Lover's Knot quilt is great. You may have been sick of it but the happy recipients probably love and treasure them very dearly.

Finn, it's important to check on that back pain. I had back pain for six months and thought it was sciatica flaring up from a prior fall. turns out it was a cyst on my ovary. Back pain can be a symptom of something other than a "pain in the back"...

hope all goes well...

I'm glad that you are taking care of your health problems, we often neglect ourselves. Your daughter must love that wonderful quilt.

I'm glad that you are getting your eyes straightened out and found the culprit, the embedded sutures.

Hope that your ongoing back pain is nothing more then bending over too many quilts and just need a break... or maybe you can just adjust your working surface higher so that you don't have to bend over it as much.
I'm trying to think positive here because I don't want anything to be seriously wrong.

BTW the quilt in the picture looks really big and it's beautiful. The kids are so cute.

One doctor down and another to go. Hope that they can get to the bottom of this and then formulate a treatment plan that will give you some relief from the situation.

Pretty quilt but you have definitely "been there, done that" Obviously it was a present she enjoyed and is still using. Not many things can be that loved!

Glad to hear that the eye doctor brought good news. I agree that our vision is very important and that's one thing I surely would not want to lose.

That is either one huge quilt or one tiny little boy! I love the Lover's Knot pattern but I would get bored making a whole bunch of them. What were the colors of the other ones?

What a beautiful quilt.

Look after your eyes. I can't imagine what I would do if I couldn't quilt because something happened to my eye sight!

Watch the back as well!

I'm so glad your news was good. And I like that quilt too... how bout a closeup so I can see how it's put together?

Bits of suture coming up to the surface of your eye sounds incredibly vile, but glad they're getting that all out of there.

Sorry about the back pain. I have problems with my back and it certainly reduces the amount of time I can spend at the computer or working on quilts. No fun at all. Hope there is something they can do for you.

Finn,
Glad to hear that the eye doctor is taking care of things as they are needed. I can't even imagine not have my sight.
I've had back pain for many years, (I have one hip higher than the other) and recently had cervical disc surgery. We currently sleep on a waterbed, but are now looking into the sleep number bed. Not a substitute for medical attention, by any means, but an addition.
Just something for you to look into, if you'd be interested.

I have a friend who says she retired to have enough time to go to all her medical appointments. *VBS* Can't do much about the body we are given, but that smile on your face and all your friends, Finn will get you thu.
