A Brand New Day....with no mistakes in it...and another chance to live our dreams and reach our
goals. Yesterday for remembering, today for moving on...and tomorrow is just a promise.
Having completed my first crocheted rug, I found myself needing something for my hands to do, in the evening. So I began another rug. Maybe at some point there will be a rhyme or reason to what I pick up to use, but not much as yet. I had some badly fade damaged med. blue, and tore that up.It's the largest of the blue sections. The white is odds and ends plus part of a childs Sesame St. sheet. I'm out to 19" and my next round will be darker again. I sewed up those strips this morning. Most of my life, including the quilt piecing seems to be on "hold" right now. Sooner or later, something will push me into action again...*VBS* in the meantime I'm keeping busy with other stuff. Some of you asked about the polka dots. I have no specific goal in mind for them. I just have trouble resisting them..LOL. As for the bubbles on, the selvadge edge say "for SSI...but in the quarter yard piece, the designer has been cut off...sorry. Maybe you could find it at their web site tho. I've gone there looking for what was new a few years back. Posted by Picasa

Okay, I just have to start my rug! :O)...I know its the "newness" of doing it that is keeping me from starting mine...isn't that silly...wonder if I am the only one like this...when you haven't done something its hard to start, but once you do it ... boom your all over it! tee hee

Yes, I'm moving on today, and feeling good about it! :)

Oooh, I'm sooo tempted to do a rag rug too. I love the look of 'em, and they'd chomp through some stash ... but I need to finish up what's been waiting for me all summer first.

Hi Finn! I love your new rug!! :) I'm still working on mine. Maybe I'll try multi-colored next. :)

I've been in a "holding" pattern too since I returned from MS. I'll pull myself out of it soon, just not quite yet. Maybe I should start a rug. I certainly have the stash to do it with. LOL!

I have a FQ of that bubble print but mine doesn't have anything printed on the selvage. But one of the other co-ordinating FQs that came in the same packet says Camdy Brights II by SSI Studio.

I absolutely love to crochet. Unfortunately, everytime I do, my trigger thumb flairs up. *sigh*. But, I adore your rugs. I have a book that was my step-gran's from the '40s that has all these different shaped crocheted rugs. My favorite is the hearth rug that looks like half of a dresdan plate. I have never made any of these rugs and I guess I never will. But I enjoy looking at the patterns and dreaming. /paula

So many people commented about 9/11 yesterday. It is very good to remember, but I find things go so much more smoothly if I keep my eyes on the future and moving on. For years I'd agonize over things that happened in the past - sometimes WAY in the past - but I finally learned how to live "accept the things you can't change, change the things you can, and find the wisdom to know the difference". Starting a new rug is a great beginning - starting anything new is a great beginning and signals looking forward. You shared that you go through a tough time every year at this time - many hugs coming your way from me - and you are handling it perfectly - by looking forward. the urge to stitch and quilt will come back - it always does! In the meantime know your cyber friends are keeping you in our hearts.

Who knew that Sesame Street sheets would find such an interesting home! The colors are so pretty.

I remember when I valiantly tried to make a braided rug...that thing would puff up in the middle and like to kill you as your feet became entangled in it. Alas, I never did get the hang of it. Its memory goes into the graveyard of 'buried hopes' vbg. Your crocheted rug is quite nice and the colors are pretty. Don't you just love colors! (I know you do, your quilts are gorgeous!!)

Hey it looks great. I enjoyed doing mine. I'm with rabbit stitchings - fear really holds us back, doesn't it? I have a friend who says to me "Just Do It". Make a long strip of chain, then turn around and DC all the way back - started!

how relaxing..keeps those hands busy and lets your mind wander..a very good thing Finn and the colors look great.

I think Cher has hit it on the head, you've got to do something creative, and right at this moment the crochet is perfect for just letting you muse.

Your crocheted rug is wonderful!! I have wanted to do one for a while. Last year I knitted a simple purse out of fabric strips and it was so much fun.

What a beautiful rug you got there, Finn! I've always said that, 'one day', I'd get around to making one of those. That day hasn't come around just quite yet though. It will though...I have no doubt. :o)

Have a *wonderful* day!!

Boy, I've got to try this.. It would use up some of my junk fabric that I hate to part with.. Where do I find the width that you cut these strips.. Sure I can make up a crochet pattern.. I missed how you do that.. Or do you just wing it and strip it what ever meets your fancy.. Hee.. Hee.. I'm pretty free spirited .. We'll see where you lead me with this idea..Love you site...

Finn, your latest creation looks great. I guess I'm going to have to figure out how to crochet -- I can make a chain a mile long, but then what? *s* I have enjoyed each of your rugs and think they would make a delightful fireside project for the rainy days to come.

Hey guess what! Linda gave me a big crochet hook so I could try making a rug! Now I just have to find Darcie's instructions again!
