Rainy Saturday....and the quilting begins. I got my standing Q Snap frame set up this morning, and did
the first quilting on the star 9 patch. There are only 12 blocks, and with the grid I choose to use, the quilting will go very quickly. I have a couple of balls of blue perle cotton in size 5(which I don't like much) and will be using that. I hope to get it used up.
And then...a new beginning .... another rug. My first oval attempt. So far, so good..*VBS* Still not sewing, but I am keeping busy.

Happy quilting - this looks like a fun quilt for those dark winter days.

I don't know - I certainly call quilting "sewing". Don't know what else you'd call it.
:-)
I am with Patti, quilting counts! enjoy the day-it's going to be really warm in my neck of the woods-an outside day for me!
Finn, you are always so busy. This is a beautiful quilt. It will be so nice and cuddly when finished. I think your idea for the recipient is wonderful. We all need a little comfort to hide under.
Oh fun rug! And have fun quilting your 9-patch. I think the blue will be really fun on it.
Finn- have fun quilting.. what size needle do you use with your perle cotton? I firmly believe God gives rainy days for quilting....

I really like the look of handquilting, and am glad you have taken it up for this quilt.
I really like the idea of crocheting with fabric, that rug looks great so far. It is something I may take up one of these days.
Well, I think quilting qualifies as sewing -- it's 'quilting' after all. I also would like to know the size needle you are using. I'm currently hand-quilting using #8 perle cotton and find it a challenge to thread my 'large eye' needle. Enjoy your rainy day quilting.
You're certainly sewing - in one form or another! The quilt is lovely, and sounds like it will make the recipient will feel "special"!
Hugs for your day!
P.S. You can send that rain over this way any old time! :)
It's been raining here as well, and I've had a quilting weekend.
I love the quilt you're working on now (as with all your quilts).
Good luck with your new feline companion. Sounds like it will be a perfect match :)
hey, quilting is all part of the process! Good spot to use the perle cotton too. I like the oval--reminds me of my great grandmom's braided rug. When we had a flood in my basement apartment one year the braided rug got soaked and unfortunately it disintegrated more or less, when cleaned. Had to just toss it and of course, there was no more to be had. Color me sad!
Any further word about the kitty?
Love your quilt! We've been hearing about all the rain back your way!
Sounds like you are really getting drenched!!
The stars are gorgeous and I'm looking forward to seeing more of the rug.
What's the word on Ebby?
Okay my lack of quilting knowledge is really going to show here, I didn't know you could use Perle Cotton for quilting, I never would have thought of that! Learned something new! Always good to learn new things!! :O)...
Hello Dear Finn, Just coming over to visit. I've been having a wonderful week learning to spin 'roving'. The Lord has sure blessed me, I was put in contact with 2 local school teachers who have sheep and one sold me 'roving' and the other promised me a fleece in October....I sure hope she remembers! Hope things are going well with you...your quilts are so cheerful and lovely. What a wonderful collection you have, something to be proud of.
I always enjoy seeing the things you're working on Finn. You may just convince me that I need to make up one of those rag rugs ... how cute would it look in the sewing room. They look like extreme stash reduction.
Your hand quilting is just wonderful of course, and perle cotton is great to quilt with. I've just learned that recently :-)
Have a great day
*hugs*
Tazzie
:-)
I thought quilting was sewing?
Good work on the frame :)
I like the colour of the Perle.
Perfect for a rainy day, Finn!
As I was waiting for your pics to load on my dial-up...I was thinking that if you don't get to use up your floss...do you think you could crochet it right along with your fabric strips for some added oh-my-and-what-do-we-have-here!? Because, you know how it is: When you want something to *run out*...it seems to multiply in the dark!
