Remember this picture from yesterday?? It was the first that Ebby has sought one of my quilts to sleep on. I was thrilled that she liked it, but also that she's
making herself more at home here. We've finished wk. # 5, and each day it gets better and better. At the beginning if I walked past within 5 feet of her, she ran for cover. This morning she was "watching" from the hallway between the bedroom and bathroom, and I actually stepped over her and she didn't move...*VBS* But back to my reason for this post.
Can you imagine my surprise and delight when I walked into the living room last evening and found this????????
Yup, it's the hand quilted star quilt that shows in the upper right of the Ebby on Ugly Quilt. She's learning fast!!! Amy from Calico Cat asked if she "catches" the fabric strips she chases with her "hands"(front paws). Yup Amy, she does, and is fierce about it. Of course with no claws, I can pull it aways so easily, that she has already learned to nab it with her teeth and hang on...LOL If I pick up a fabric strip and begin to walk with it, she absolutely cannot resist chasing it....*VBS* It's a good game and gives her the muscle workout that is so good for her to get. My vet was soooo pleased that she had good muscle-lation(?) at her check up. Vet said "good, she's NOT a couch potato". And I've been having such fun teaching her the kitten play games that she seems to not know. I suppose it's possible to raise a kitten without playing with it, but I can't imagine doing that. It's one of the best parts of being owned by a kitty...*VBS*

Both Bonnie and Clyde love the fabric strip game, but it is Bonnie's favorite. What is a real hoot though, is that Clyde fell in love with a strip of fleece that we play with...but he will drag it all over the house, upstairs and downstairs, and we find it in the strangest of places. This morning it was in bed with me - under Clyde as if he was keeping it safe and warm. Must be the texture for him, I guess.

She's really looking and feeling more at home all the time. I'm so happy for both of you *s*

Anything that wiggles is fair game at our house...and I mean anything. I have to shoo away cats when I cut out the pattern pieces for applique as they see and sliver of paper and think something to play with!

I'm glad she not running anymore. SHe's learned you aren't so bad and she can count on you to stick around! Good girl!

It is so nice to hear that Ebby is settling so well! I thinks she is the perfect companion for you. She is catching on to being a quilty cat too!

Every once in a while even my adult cats will get into "play mode" its a lot of fun to watch the couch potatoe try to throw her weight around the corner as she chases the string :-)

I think your nest on the couch has just been taken over by Ebby. :)

And the more I see of the Ugly Duckling Pioneer, the more I like it!

It's good to hear that Ebby is becomming more trusting of you. We have one cat that will not let you walk over her...She'll still get up and move out of the way. The rest of the cats won't move unless you move them yourself. *LOL* I can't imagine having a cat without playing with it...that's the best part when they're kittens. Our adult cats still play quite a bit.

You can see that Ebby is becoming much more comfortable with you! Looks like she's made herself quite at home!

Ebby is beautiful. Glad you are reawakening the kitten inside her! Goldie loves to hide in the quilts and fabric while Brownie just likes to sit on top of the sewing machine and watch the fabric go through...

Hi Finn, Hi Ebby.
I've been sending messages and trying to get blogger to recognize my new computer. Hope it works this time.

What wonderful pictures of Ebby! I'd say she certainly has good taste in quilts. And is obviously making herself very much more at home. How delightful that she will play the "kitten" games with you - so many full grown cats will have none of that. Takes some of the fun out of having them - in my humble opinion of course!

You asked about the round robins - I still can't answer you directly because your comments are not coming to me via email like everyone else's. I didn't participate - just organized and tracked the whole thing. Now and then common sense actually does determine what I do - rarely but now and then. I just had too many UFO's, obligations and time constraints to participate. Now that I see how great they all look I wish I could have done so.

Quilt camp was fabulous! I'll write about it in the next couple days.

It worked! I was just wanting to say how happy I am Ebby plays with you. My kitty used to like an empty thread spool tied on a string. also liked knots tied in fabric. He also was a black kitty but had more white marks. After being together for 20 years, I miss him.

YAY - I love seeing kitties use their hands, ahem paws.

My boy is loving his "sparkly balls" I need to find more - hopefully at the cat show this weekend. (Mine are very finicky about which toys they play with. RB likes the kind that he can carry in his mouth.)

I love your pile of quilts, and as a person who dislikes cats, think yours is unexpectedly appealing!

I also love that quilt- not ugly at all!

Cats are the best Finn! Has she started sleeping with you yet?
My Bailey loves to sleep with me every night, especially when it's cold, covered up to his neck with the blanket and sharing a pillow with me. Nancy

I have a lot of foundation pieced braid....this looks like the perfect quilt to make with it, very interesing pattern! And it is already cat approved!

So happy to hear that Ebby let you step over her. That takes a lot of trust on her part!

With all those quilts laying around, Ebby must feel like she has died and gone to heaven!!

The Stars quilt is beautiful. Have you posted about it before?

Oh she is so adorable sitting there! And I love that quilt I see in the picture of the braided blocks. Send me a short note if there is a secret how to do those - or do you basically just do it like Bonnie does but only make it block size? That is really cool!

Ebby looks so comfy snuggled in your quilt. Love what you did with the braids.

Hi (((Finn))) Long time no read. Work and life has been crazy, but I'm trying to catch up now. Love the braids as it seems so does everyone else!

pretty quilt but an even prettier kitty on top of it. Now she stands out well against the colors of the quilt.
