Googling my corner of the world...

you would find below zero temps and new snow. A brillant sunny day, but cold, cold, cold. A minus 1 degree is certainly not a record for January 28th.
Zooming in on my house, you would find a gift of both time and love in the seat of this chair..*S* A Thursday evening gift from my friend Jean. DD#1 wants one of my rugs*S*and it should have a "Tuscan" feel about it. So the collecting has begun, I have greens, gold, tans and browns, but purples and
lavenders elude me. She also wants one in periwinkle. Wish me luck!
The next picture is of my new beginnings. As Vera of KCQuilter says, it's so relaxing to sit and crochet, and I can do that without much light and when my eyes are tired in the evenings. This one grew by one more color yesterday, lime green! I'll show you more later. If you are a 'word' person, or unusually perceptive, you'll have noticed that I chose NOT to use the word "quilt" in
my blog title. I told in my personal stuff that you'd get questions, ponderings, memories, musings, the occasional 'amble' down the lane, and 'stuff' that is in the scrapbag of my life. If you are "all about quilts" or quilting, you may or may not be happy reading my blog. What I give you is 'pieces'. Sometimes they are a finished product, called a quilt, sometimes not. I don't foresee that changing. If my blog disappoints you, it's probably one that you should skip. The one thing I can guarantee, is that what you get is me. And I don't have a one track mind or ever follow the path just as it lies before me..*VBS* Is this the road less taken...I don't know, I never asked. Oh yes, the last pic...my(favorite) cousin Ross, and Finn the summer of 1945. Our fathers are brothers, and you can see the Smith resemblence.
P.S. Thanks for all the lovely crossed fingers, toes, etc. It seems to have "worked"! I am feeling better each day, and didn't even need ONE nap yesterday, much less 2 or 3..*G* Now the blood work isn't quite as big a factor...maybe I can manage this after all. Posted by Picasa

Finn: Don't change a thing! It is the "questions, ponderings, memories, musings, the occasional 'amble' down the lane, and 'stuff' that is in the scrapbag of my life" that keeps me checking in on your blog! ...and of course it is also your love of scrap quilts that keeps me tuned into your blog. So glad to hear that you are feeling much better.

I agree with Norma - don't change anything! We love your ponderings, your musings, your philosophizing (is that a word?), your crochet, your quilting, and everything else you post. In short, we love you just the way you are - whether you are having a Finn day or a Sylvia day. I'm so very glad that you are feeling better - I truly believe in the power of positive thoughts from friends around the globe.

I chuckled when I took a second look at your chair full of lavendar balls - as the blog was opening it looked like a cupped hand with lots of tiny, tiny little lavendar balls in the cupped palm. I laughed when I realized what it was really a picture of.

If your blog were any different, it just wouldn't be Finn or fun *s* Not one of us can be only about 1 thing and only Flat Stanley is interesting as a one-dimensional guy -- because of his multi-dimensional travels *s*

Looks like you and Cousin Ross are out to have some good summer-time fun. Lemonade, watermelon, maybe a run through the sprinklers.

Never be disappointed in your blog, Finn... :)

It just makes me wish I could crochet! I AM surprised though, that Ebby isn't stealing the balls of lavender and periwinkle and sneaking them off under the couch somewhere. :D

Love your blogs- dont change a thing!
So glad you are feeling better.
And, yes, does Ebby steal your yarn?
or is she too busy lounging about on your wonderful friendly quilts?

Finn, your blog is fine the way it is: the friendliness is what first drew me in. Please keep it up.

Hey, Finn, dear friend, soooo glad you are starting to feel better. I too am struggling right now...first one thing and then another...and always an energy issue...I LOVE your rugs in the previous post!! And Oh my Goodness, Finn, those golds, tans, browns, etc. -- that one is gorgeous!!! And the lavendars in the chair...did you make the fabric balls??? Oh my, I really want to make another one of those rugs...*sigh*

There are lots of places to see quilts, in process and finished but no where else to listen to Finn wandering, remembering and creating. Please just be Finn and don't change a thing. Huggs, Katie

Another try. Posting on this thing is testing my patience for sure. There are lots of places to see quilts in progress or finsihed but no where else to see Finn's memories, wonderings and creating. Just please keep sharing. Huggs from Katie and big wet ones from Kipper.

Okay, it got me. Crazy.

I love the rugs -- I don't much care if they're quilted or not! Life is getting in the way of my blog reading -- but still like to catch up from time to time!

It's all about the pieces, Finn. I don't buy quilts, I make them, because the fun is in the process, the piecing and the compilation. When my house was seriously threatened by bushfire at exactly this time last year, my sister (a buyer, not a maker) wanted to clear the house of everything and said "what about your quilts". I said that I may well grab my chook one running out the door but that they could all be replaced as long as I knew my family were safe-because the fun was in the making and they would be fun to make again.
Your fun- and life, has been all about the piecing and that is what I like about your blog, it all fits together. Pleased you are feeling brighter, LOL, tracey

Oh Finn the rugs are coming along just great! You do such great work and seem to move along with great speed! Congrats on the eyes getting better and finding something to do while they heal!

I always enjoy the pieces from your scrapbag. I love the picture of you and your cousin -- so sweet.

Thanks for the memory about the Land of Point. I never saw the movie, but we had a RECORD (do you remember those?) with the music from the soundtrack. It was our favorite record to listen to as kids.

Hope you're feeling a little sparkier soon!
