not alot, but some. Since I am working from scrap, it takes a bit of time to cut the 6" squares, match them up, sew, cut, re-sew, size and sew...LOL. This is my first broken dishes(or hour glass if you prefer). Each individual block (1/4) sizes out at 5". So finished 4.5". Eleven sewn together gives me 49.5" which is a good
width, I think.
Betsy helped out last week by cutting me some 6" squares in darks and lights.
As always, when Betsy is cutting, some brights are wandering in...*VBS* Mostly I am trying to use up some of the older scraps . And while at Betsy's I did find a quilt I'd like to make(from stash) in a book called Spectular Scraps(I think) it was published in 1999, and is Australian I think. I drew out the lay out for the blocks, and will be cutting for that quilt in golds, blacks, deeper yellows, and probably in the dark blue purples. Just have to decide what size HST's I want to work with...*VBS* Feels good to know what I'm going to be doing...soon!! Today I'm off to lunch with another old friend. Haven't seen her since about Thanksgiving. So we will lunch and then shop the thrift store and a couple of other places. I want to look at the Amish furniture store and see if they have a headboard I'd like for my queen size bed. That's next on my "I want" list..*G*. Oldest DS gave me the money to buy it as a christmas present. I'd like to find one within the amount I already have....and that might be challenging...we'll see. The thrill of the hunt!
I'm also cutting some foundation blocks this a.m. so I can make the Heartstrings blocks for the project and to honor Nancy's birthday and her Dad's...*VBS* Hope you all are having a good day!

It looks fabulous, Finn! You are so darn diligent!! And it's paying off. :o)
After lunch I'm also heading over to my local Amish craftsman to order our new bedroom furniture. I can't wait!
Your collection of scraps is looking scrap-oh-lish-ious! I love the variety and the brights here and there really add life to your project. :c) ~Bonnie
Your quilt is looking great. I just love scrap quilts. My favorite. Good luck at the thrift shops. Another of my favorite things.
Your scrappy collection of Broken Dishes is looking great. I often used to cut out quilts for my Nana - if I know you can use 6" squares, from now on when I cut something out it is easy enough for me to cut some 6" squares at the same time!
Cheers!
Evelyn
I am starting to really like scrappy quilts. Mostly because I keep seeing the great quilts your are and have made. I always like the broken dish pattern but it does sould like alot of work to make the blocks.
I have to ask what does *VBS* stand for? I am very slow with the computer lingo.
VBS =VERY Big Smile? Am I right. I am not up on the computer shorts either really!
I love scrap quilts Finn. That is looking very nice.
Oh the 1/4 STs are wonderful! Using scraps makes such a fun looking quilt, but it does take time to cut doesn't it!
Great scrappy blocks. They do take time to cut but the effort is well worth the while I think! I have the Spectacular Scraps book, it has great scrappy quilts in it.
Love the broken dishes. That's on my "to do someday" list.
I LOVE the Peanuts fabric in there! (I'm a huge fan of Peanuts.)
So great to see you happily sewing away again. The broken dishes look marvelous.
So pretty and bright!
:)
Hey, those blocks look great. You are really on a roll with these. Glad to see you enjoying your quilting *s*
Those are good looking blocks. I haven't made those blocks in a quite awhile.
Another great quilt.
Just wanted to stop by to belatedly wish you a happy new year.
How beautiful! I love your fabrics!
I love the Broken Dishes pattern. Yours is coming out really nice.
Your broken dishes look wonderful Finn. I love strolling down memory lane with the old fabrics, it's really such a fun part of working with scraps.
Have a great weekend
*hugs*

Finn, I like it, your quilt is coming a long wonderful!!
Hope you find that headboard!!
Someone once said to me the hunt if half of owning something...tee hee... it is fun to hunt!
Finn great work on your broken dishes :)
LOL that an Australian book on quilting can provide inspiration for you!
Enjoy your headboard hunt!
Love the Broken Dishes! Should make a spectacular quilt!!
What a wonderful variety of fabrics you are putting together. I love it.
Here I am lagging behind on commenting. The broken dishes/hour glass looks so good in scrappy. So Finn! I got your little churn dash quilt pinned Tuesday so if I can get Pippi to stay off of it, it is next in line. Can't wait to see what it looks like then because it is so fun now!
That red chiclet fit right into the colors of the sports snuggle up, didn't it? Fabric from you, Cher and one of the Belles and look at what happened!
Looking good, Finn!
I've been making some of the heartstrings blocks too, and everyone was right, they're addictive! But somehow, they don't seem to be making much of a dent in my big baggies of strips and strings... guess they were packed tighter than I thought.

What fun for you and Betsy! There's not much that can beat a good friend...some fabric...and a sewing machine!
