rises slightly further north, stretching towards the summer equinox and the longest day of our year. I am a time traveler, following the sun, the moon, the seasons.
Spring feels like it has been slow to arrive, but the impatience is all mine. It is only April, after all, and we often have snow on the ground, and lots of cold winds in April, even into May. This year seem to be an exception to that.
Altho this isn't a beautiful picture, with so much dead turf remaining, the first greening of the grass has begun. One good rain, and the lawns will spring to life in verdant greens and gold, can't forget the dandilions.I was thrilled this a.m. as I looked out the opened bedroom window and saw that the little shrubs outside are getting their first leaves. The blue is just the plant tag, no flowers for awhile and they will be yellow when they come...*VBS* For many years I planted a new tree each year on Earth day, but with a rental comes to 'no privilege' clause about
putting things in the ground. So I will honor the earth in other ways, cloth napkins, cloth shopping bags, recycling what I am able. Use it up, wear it out, make it do....or do without. I used to have a wall plaque that said "I wondered why somebody didn't do something. And then I realized I was somebody". Be earth friendly, go hug a tree *VBS* or plant one.

nice reminder of today-I have cosmos to plant and 2 lilac bushes as well!
already planted one tree about 2 weeks ago...I love playing in the dirt..however with all the rain of late-too wet/muddy to plant today.

Thank you, Finn, for the beautiful, beautiful reminder that we are not only the stewards of this home of ours, but truly part of her, as well. I attended an Earth Day program today and it was so wonderful to see a room filled with young people and all of their tables and projects and displays about recycling and so forth. We are 'green' builders for new homes, here in Salem and it is a constant thought in our own lives, but even then, I too, need reminders! ...going out to hug a tree (((hug)))
I know what yo mean about feeling constrained in a rental...about now is when quilters would come to bees in Goergia with bags of excess daylillies, black eyed susans, and what-ever else was taking over the garden.
Thanks for the reminder to take care of our world.
I do so agree with you Finn.
I would like to think when I leave this place, it is a little better for my having been here. ( by growing and replenishing and feeding folk; by recycling and by making and creating useful things of beauty).
Quilting since 1976.. most of my quilts are forgot.. I don't even know how many.. Just the journey of quilting life..it moves on. Still love your quilt memorys..God Bless..
