Quilts forgotten....

and remembered, arrived in my mail box this week. Maybe it is only me, but as the years pass by, and without pictures of every quilt I have made and quilted, I have begun to forget them. That speaks volumes if it matters to you, having a record of your quilting journey. DD#1 called last week to say she had found a box of pictures. They are pictures I told her she still had, but she swore she had returned them to me...ya, right! I was nice enough NOT to say "I told you so", she apologized and scanned 3 of them to me. In describing them she said "it's your Star quilt", and"the heart quilt you made for Joyce"(?????????) and one other for from Ireland. I thought and thought.." a heart quilt for Joyce(DD#1's birth mom)?...nope, I don't remember doing that. So she scanned them to me. And yes, NOW I remember making the heart table square for her to send Joyce for (Mother's Day or a birthday) some occasion. I also made the wreath quilt on the wall, but that one I remember making...LOL
When my friend Jean was first learning to quilt(from me) I told her to take pictures of ALL the quilts she makes, especially the ones she gives away. She asked if I had pictures of ALL the quilts I have made, and I said "no", I didn't know enough to do that the first several years...like 4 or 5 years, or more. All my children had quilts that I didn't get a picture of and dozens of baby quilts that went to DD's friends. Even with my first grandchild..I neglected to take a picture until a couple of years later. I still forget to take the snapshot of baby quilts I sell.
It must be a by-product of all the years of piecing and quilting that lie behind me, to cause such memory lapses. It can't possibly mean that I am getting older!! Can it????

No matter how hard I try it seems like now and then I forget to take a picture of a quilt - especially before I got the digital. And you're right - I know I've forgotten many of them. Especially teaching tops that I've given away for charity. I think there are about 50 or so of those, and I can remember only a handful. I think that's one of the reasons I like blogging - it helps me remember to take pictures of what I'm doing.

Thanks for sharing these - I especially love the stars!

You remind me of Dorcas in the Bible who was a seamstres and so well loved. Always sewing beautiful things for others. I love to come over and see what you are 'up' to. Now and in the past. Happy Saturday to you dear friend! Hope you've got a sunny day like we do here. Its a treat...thats for sure!

Those star quilts never get old! It is good to have a photo album to remember your past quilts. Now I have my most recent om my computer. My children think it is very strange that I have more pictures of quilts than grandchildren. I can't explain it.

Getting older? You, dear Finn? No way, no how...because if you are...then what does that mean for the rest of us? Now what else was I going to tell you.....can't quite remember...oh, yes! I love these quilts...one shows your heart, the other your colorful, scrappy little spirit!

Gee, I'm only 9 and I've forgotten to take pics too - I didn't get any of my granddaughters first 3 quilts at all! Oops - 9 yr olds don't often have DGDs do they? LOL!
The star quilt is wonderful - one of my favorite scrappy patterns, beautiful. Happy surprise for you!!

Love those quilts.
No your'e not getting old. I found that sometimes if I made a quilt for someone, knowing it wouldnt be mine, it doesn't stay in my mind the same. It was the same with my dolls- if I made them for an order or to give away, I didnt regard them as mine.

I let SOOOO many quilts get away from me without getting a picture. Internet mail lists and blogging has helped a lot cause now I want to get a picture as soon as I finish a top so I can share. :-)

you are so right Finn-lots of quilts are gone with no photos and I am sure I have forgotten several I have made and given away to charity as well. Now-at least with a ditigal camera I have a chance of getting a photo-but I still forget on occasion. I just don't worry about it! what fun quilts you showed! they are all special and wonderful-just like you.

What fun to get pictures of your quilts back. It does seem hard to remember to take photos of each quilt though doesn't it. I am forgetful when I am in a rush to get them finsihed for a birthday or special ocassion. I am usually so relieved to be finished in time (or not too late) that I don't think of the photo until later.

I especially like your star quilt.
