The Best Laid Plans......
And they do get changed, don't they?? Tommorrow is my 2 year Blog-a-versary ! I was going to talk about that and drawing names later today. But a ringing doorbell changed my plans. I had to go to our local Farmer's Market. This is not a new thing, most of you know about them, and probably attend them. I'm really ashamed to admit today was my first time.
I'm slow to change I guess. I always grew my own veggies and flowers, and since that changed, I've wandered away from having them to enjoy. TIME TO CHANGE THAT, I DECIDED!
These are pictures I snapped about an hour ago. I now have new potatoes, green onions, gr. beans, cukes, radishes, zuchinni, beets, fresh raspberries and SUNFLOWERS! I couldn't be happier...*VBS* I've put the flowers in water, sampled the berries, and am looking forward to a veggie supper, and some great lunches this week and weekend. I'm so glad I thought to take my camera. We had 2 Mung families complete with children...delightful...and 2 American retired-men type gardeners. I bought from everyone. I always feel better if I don't flay favorites. It amazed me how much variety their was...the Mung really know their vegetables!! I could have filled another bag, but, after all...there is ONLY me...LOL
It's been a good day...I got up feeling like myself, tummy under control, no excessive drowniness, and a bit of energy. Makes a world of difference! I sewed between 7 and 8, and then got the dishwasher loaded and running while I did some other chores. A quick trip to town for a birthday present for a friend, and home to do more 'stuff'.
I have been sewing every day, like a mad woman, and I have 5 different sets of blocks that I am 'making' for...LOL. And I snapped pictures to show, but then the door bell rang..and that, as they say, "is all she wrote".

Happy Blogiversary!
We love the Farmer's Market and go every Saturday all year. The freshness can't be beat, can it?
I love Farmer's Market. We have one twice weekly here. I love that it's different vendors on the different days . . . more variety - and folk to chat with *s*
Did you see the piece on the evening news recently about the guy in NYC who practically brought farmer's markets back to life there all by himself? He needs a medal! Which one is it that they give to citizens? That's the one for him!
Hope you've got my name in your hat for the blogiversary drawing!
Been meaning to tell you how much I like the new picture of you in your sidebar. Maybe when I look that good I'll put mine up too!
Lovely post Finn. I would love to share some of your vegies with you. Looks lovely & fresh.
And so good to hear you are feeling well!
Lovely in all ways. I am so glad you went and brought your camera so you could share with us! It reminds all of us to get out more and sample nature's bounty. I think Postcards Central is smiling on you today and we are all so glad you are feeling better, most of all!
A real Farmers market how nice, some farmers markets here are just people who buy the same stuff you get at the grocery :o(... but some are real :O)... everything looked so good in your pics, I can just imagine how hard it was to not come home with some of all of it!!Sounds like you got some yummy stuff ...
I wish I could get to the Farmer's Market here. It's on a weekday when I'm at work. The veggies look great. I like your new photo on your sidebar.
I'm a midnight person. I thought I would be a morning person since I'm an early riser, but guess not.
PS - I love Patrick Stewart too.
The pictures of the veggies look so colourful - and who could resist sunflowers?
HI Finn,
I love sunflowers- they always make me feel happy - I have made a couple of sunflower quilts but you can't beat seeing the real thing. Congratulations on celebrating the 2nd anniversary of your blog- May you have many more years of writing and celebrating your journey in life. In Edmonton, where I live there are farmer's markets from May to October but I haven't been in a long time -I am not sure why- I guess because they are crowded places and I am not much of a fan of crowds. My parents live two hours away and they always have a large garden. Still they go to the market in the spring before their garden is ready for the picking.
Enjoy those beautiful sunflowers and vegetables.
Regards from a Western Canadian quilter,
Anna
Happy Blogversary! It's wonderful that you discovered the farmer's market so you can enjoy all that freshness and beauty. I love the farmer's market here in Michigan and really miss it when we leave.
Oh, both the sunflowers and the veggies are beautiful!

Happy almost blogoversary! And thanks for the reminder of one reason why I do LOVE the midwest (despite the often cranky and psychotic weather) -- fresh, fresh, fresh produce in the summer. I have got to see if my favorite roadside farm stand has opened for the season yet!
It's like an event here when we can avoid the supermarket veggies and get some real ones. That's when you realize what junk the other stuff is. We finally have Long Island corn and Jersey tomatoes. I could live on BLTs for the summer. SOOOO Gooood
Wonderful to hear your voice sounding so happy.
It's tomorrow so HAPPY BLOGAVERSARY!! I've been with you from almost the beginning and what a ride it's been. :-) I might not comment often any more but I do come visit often and am always inspired by what you have to share.
I sure wish I had a farmer's market close by since I've not been able to grow a garden for the last few years. Hopefully next year.
And BTW, I'm a "sunrise" too.
