Open rebellion.....

against the heat! And doesn't this picture from Feb. '07, look wonderful...think cool! After being shut indoors since Wednesday's near disaster, I'm really, really tired of being inside with the windows closed!! Major understatement. And, even if I felt it was
o.k. to venture out, which is a possibility, my Weather Pixie(in a bikini yet!) is telling me it's 97 degrees out there. Now that might be right, or it might not. My nearest weather reporting station is Mpls-St.Paul, and generally the metro has higher temps due to the amount of pavement and building mass.
Either way, when I stuck my nose outside, and sidetracked a very eager Ebby, it was HOT!
So I'm disgruntled today. I've done some sewing, some cleaning, some napping and a whole lot of sitting under that quilted finished from yesterday. Yes, I know, I spoke prematurely, it still needed binding. I got that cut and sewn on this a.m. and am on the 3rd side. I've decided to add a 4" border, in an off black to the strip twist. It will then jump from 43" X 57" to 51" X 65", and I'm going to use a plaid flannel backing. I have some 60" flannel shirting I'd like to see used up and gone. Probably will be a snuggle quilt for one of the grandsons.
I found and sorted out bigger scraps of christmas fabric, so I can begin cutting some assorted squares and triangles for more blocks. I sure have alot of christmas scraps! I'm not in any hurry with my orphans, but I'll keep picking away at it..*VBG*
I got a really sweet email from a gal in eastern WI, who follows my blog(thank you very much K) and sent me some thumbnails of fabrics that might work with my vintage 9 patches. I'll have to see if I can 'fiddle' them over here to the blog, from the email. I have a feeling she's right on the money with them, and I actually like the look of nearly all of them. In the blue range, and not as washed out as the blue the clerk was trying to sell me. And a good price to boot, from Connecting Threads. I'll see what I can do for tomorrow. Would be great to get the fabric and get them together.
In the meantime, while digging in the Christmas stuff, I found anothert quilt top(Christmas) that I added to the pile to practice on with my machine quilting. I'm feeling better, more like myself and the nausea seems to have passed. I was able to eat some today, and that seemed good. I'm hitting fresh fruit mostly, I think the added liquid(watermelon) will help the process. Seems odd to me that what was happening didn't trigger a massive asthma episode, and that would have been preferable. I would have know to get the heck out of there. From now on, I'll pay attention to the beginnings of queasy stomach. I don't honestly know if anyone would have checked if they hadn't seen or heard from me on Thursday or Friday. If the sleeping has turned into unconsciousness. I'm feeling pretty darn lucky...*VBS*

That snow picture looks wonderful for these hot days, Finn. I'm glad you are feeling better. Our bodies have a way of changing sometimes in the way they react to things. It's good you know what to look for. Love your strip twist quilt and the bargello. Also like your orphan train idea. I don't have any orphans yet but now I know what to do if I collect some :)

I love the strip twist, Bonnie provides just the BEST patterns! Glad you're feeling better, that must have been scary to say the least. Stay cool.

and all our emails would not wake you up either...good that you are eating more and feeling much more like your self. I am seeing light at the end of my wp tunnel...back to stitching!

Quite frightening for you, Finn. It sounds like you're re-gaining your strength and Finn-nesse. Yes...LOTS of fluids! And if you can get your hands on some fresh lemon to add to your water...it may help filter *things* out faster, too.

{{{Hugs to you...and thanks for the snow! Send it over here!}}}

I'm slathering myself with your 'snow', thinking about all of your Christmas prints, staring at my "Crazy Woman" socks from Paula hung by the woodstove...is it Christmas in July, yet?? And, most of all, have you put up your "NO SMOKING" and "NO GUNPOWDER ALLOWED" signs yet?????

Goodness, Finn, hope you feel better soon. I'm like you, I can't stand being cooped up inside in the stupid a/c. But there's often no choice in Georgia.

It seems hard to imagine being so hot, while I am shivering! lol.
Glad you are feeling much better. Fruit is wonderful for healing.

If a finn is disgruntled, are you ... disfinntled?

It'll get better! I like the strip twist pattern too, and so does my brother! Now that I've done one in 'guy' shades, I'm tempted to also try one in florals. :)

We've got the same icky weather you do Finn -- other than a quick trip to the pool, we've been staying inside with the AC running! We're supposed to get a break Monday into Tues -- so I'll hope you get the same weather front moving through!

Oh Finn - I'm glad you're on the mend - we've been whinging over here in the UK about our February weather in July but I don't think we want those sort of temperatures - maybe if you could just send us a little of your heat to reduce yours and increase ours to a manageable comfort at both ends - take care, the border round the strips sounds great!
