Retail Therapy at Hamilton Booksellers...

I have a list of books that I would LOVE to find. Some are out of print such as the ones by Pilgram and Roy.Some are just not easily found due to their age. So I faithfully "check" what Hamilton Books cycles through that website. Mr. Edward Hamilton is a friend to quilters everywhere, in my opinion...*VBS* His prices are top notch, the service excellent, and the shipping rates LOW. These are the new ones shuffling off to my house this week..*VBS*
I'm not much for applique, but I have almost ALL the "Twenty Little ----" books that Gwen Marston has published. So this one was a MUST have...and only $4.95 instead of the suggested $24.95.
I'm not familiar with this author or the book, but the quilts and projects are based on the life and times of Laura Ingalls Wilder. How can I go wrong at $4.95??? And this is one I have coveted for awhile now...it's pricey!
From my little corner of the world, I think twice or maybe 3 times before paying $21.95 for a book! It's better in price than anywhere else I've seen it, but still pricey. I think it will be worth it, however. With Hamilton, they always tell you the shipping will be in 3-15 business days...which sounds LONG...but my experience is that most of mine have arrived in less than a week. The link is on the sidebar. When you get there, look at the list on the left hand side of the page, scroll down to Needlecrafts. That will take you to a page where you can select the Needlecraft of your choice. Yesterday there were 255 quilting books to choose from...*VBS* The selection changes often, and he includes an indicator of what is being handled in number. If it says "remainer", the amount he has to sell is just that...what ever was left in the warehouse.
BUT....I found Gwen Marston/Freddy Moran's newest book at Hamilton while some of you were waiting for first shipment from Amazon or Barnes and Noble...*VBS* Ya just NEVER know..*VBS* (No affiliation to Hamilton..just a happy customer!)

A little birdie gave me a tip off to the site and the first two books are coming my way, too *s* I'll be checking the mailbox daily. Hamilton probably uses 'book rate' for shipping which keeps $ low and can slow down arrival . . . I can be patient at such lovely prices.
I purchase Quilts of the Oregon Trail a couple of years ago at a show. It's so enjoyable to leaf through the pages and see all the wonderful quilts. How in the world did they do it all?

You've picked some wonderful books, I think I might just wander over and see if there is something I can't live without. Thanks for the great post.

I love quilt books and am guilty of having a few overflowing my book shelf. I like to shop for books at buy.com and alibris.com (no relation to me personally).

Oh, thanks for the bookseller tip, Finn. I went right over. I built up a wish list. I will let it sit over night before I push the order button. There were a lotta nice titles on his site.

I have plenty of quilting books but in my opinion it is like fabric "you can never have too much". Finn, I enjoy reading your blog so much, you have inspired me to do my own. I love scrap quilts and the orphan train quilts. I have a couple of orphan quilts I may send you pictures of. Check out my blog if you are interested. I'm just learning and it is new so keep that in mind when you look at it. Terry

Living here in South Korea I am soooooooo pining for a book store. I used to get up early on Saturday morning and head to Barnes and Noble. I would get a coffee at Starbucks, find a pile of books and grab a seat. I could spend hours in Half Off Books or even spend a very satisfying day at Borders. AHHHHHHHHHHH books!!! I am green with envy over here!!! hahaha

I too scurried off to the Hamilton site you shared and purchased 3 books. One of them is your second choice...I am so excited. What a great place to buy books. I bookmarked it as they have a list of classics for our home school library that are on our wish list. Thanks for sharing!!!

I went, I saw , I bought- lol
Seems with the not being able to cut, quilt etc for long periods of time books have been filling the gap . Not all quilty but it's always fun to be absorbed in some kind of book. Have a wonderful holiday weekend :)

Oh rats - they don't ship over here! I am green with envy over the Prairie Quilts and Oregon Trail books. Although I don't make the "traditional" quilts, I love looking at them and the history of quilting holds a fascination for me.

DD has just discovered Laura Ingalls Wilder.
