It's been an odd sort of week. My life, as such, is pretty 'ho-hum'...and that is fine with me. But the lives and troubles of some of my kids keep rearing their ugly heads. It's hard to explain in that there is nothing wrong for me or with me, but the troubles and tensions keep one from being at peace in the Valley. As a parent, of course, you help in whatever way you can, within reason. Such is the case just lately...again. I'm not feeling as much like myself as I wish, so please take that into account. It would be easier not to blog at all at times like this. But that's not being true to myself. Soooooo the very 'lost' quilt was found finally, and the hand quilting contines.
I hate doing sashing and posts, but I'm plugging away at it with this one. I'll be happy to be adding borders soon. *VBS*
And in the World According Ebby, all is well. She enjoys her morning time out on the patio in the sun, and retreats under the chair when it gets too warm. Afternoons are spent sleeping on her sheepskin, and evenings are for pestering Mom about almost everything. I pulled this UFO out of the bin also, the other night. I have nearly enough blocks made to turn it into a top. It's next on my agenda. It may be awhile until I get to it, but you never know..LOL

I'm sorry to hear about your adult children's troubles. I can relate to what you are going through. It can be hard for a parent to stay out of the way when adult children are having problems.
I'll send some prayers and positive thoughts your way.
Ebby looks like she is in charge. Is she?
We never stop worrying about our children no matter how old they are. I guess we want to fix things and make them better. Keep quilting, it brings joy to us bloggers to see your work and takes you away for a little bit from the things that are beyond your control. I know I have been there.
Sorry to hear that there's uneasiness in The Valley. Kids just never stop being kids . . . no matter how old they get to be. Hang in there - you'll be in my thoughts *s*
Hi Finn,
I love the polka dot quilt - it is so bright and cheery and a fun quilt.
I have a 20 year old son and I think it gets harder as they get older, not easier. He is a great kid just trying to find his way and where he is going- I am sure it is the same for your children.
It is hard not to worry when they are having a difficult time. I hope that quilting acts as a balm and a distraction as you travel through these challenging waters of life.
Regards from a Western Canadian Quilter,
Anna
The quilts are bright and cheery and Ebby looks good on the starter quilt. Kids, they are such of source of love and sorrow. I guess that goes with being a mom.
Hang in there, dear Finn, someday ( soon I hope) their troubles will be a thing of the past and your mind can settle back down. You and your kids are in my prayers. Bobbin
Rearing children is a for ever project I believe. Sometimes they don't want to tell you things because that would be getting in their space...but let them have a financial problem and boy are they quick to call Mama and Daddy. Makes it rough because we can't always solve their problems. I will send up a prayer for you to keep your peace of mind at this time.
Just give your furry friend a special treat because he doesn't give you any problems
Take care and try to laugh once each hour.
Amelia
Your quilts are looking lovely!
How well & happy Ebby looks too!!
Finn - I love the bottom quilt. And what a treasure of a mother you are!! Take care!

Happy to see that you have found the 'lost' quilt and are able to spend time hand quilting it! The polka dot top is advancing nicely...so happy and cheery! and who doesn't like log cabins...simply beautiful!
As our children grow, it gets harder to watch as they find their path through trial and error. As the parents, we just need to keep the faith and guide the best way possible :)
I love your use of color -- those quilts are lovely! Hang in there with the kids. Hope all goes well.
ah, the road of being a parent is never smooth for long, no matter what the age they are. I truly love that polka dot quilt..oh it is just the bestest! you are really on a ufo roll of late-good for you!
"Being a mother is like taking your heart out of your chest and watching it walk around." author unknown. We never stop being mothers do we, Finn, no matter what twists and turns life takes. I'm loving your quilting projects.
my miss 19 moved out, and her path isn't as smooth as she had hoped.
all we can do is be "there" for the kids, and help them back onto their feet.
