And suddenly it's September again....

with more and more signs of autumn waiting in the wings for summer to leave. A scattering of yellow leaves dot my lawn. They look like a field of dandy-lions, but then the sassy breeze swirls them up and away. Another yellow in my world, the BIG yellow bus rolled into the neighborhood this morning just before 8. Outside my bedroom window, the jabber and chatter of kids, returning for another year of learning. With Labor Day being on the 1st of Sept. this year, a long weekend bonus for my September child. Born on Sept. 1st, my darling oldest daughter turned 41 yesterday. Even tho I've witnessed most of the birthdays between then and now, I am still amazed to find my sweet baby easing into middle age. Her elusive little brother, whom you've seen very little of on these pages will be 40 come next March. Another milestone. This picture was taken In New Richmond, WI at Holy Family Hospital. We were home from Michigan for Christmas the year she had turned one in September.
Then and now. Same beautiful smile and happy outlook on life. She and her sweet husband spent the weekend at Pattison State Park in Superior, WI. Thei toured area and in general enjoyed the time together. September 1st is also their wedding anniversary...7 years now and the wedding quilt is still a UFO...bad Finn!
This is the Split Rock Lighthouse, a working lighthouse in Two Harbors, MN. They toured the lighthouse as part of this trip. Everyone is home safe and sound once again.
In my quiet little of the world, the Whatever quilt is in the processing of being bound! That is my first UFO, and I'll post a picture when I finish. It's heading out the door on Sunday. Hailey Marie is being baptized, and I get to go!!! DD#1 will be driving me down there *VBS*
I spent part of today making a backing for the Hourglass top I showed a few weeks back. It's next on my agenda, and will get a quick machine quilting. Sorry, no picture as I deleted a bunch of old pictures over the weekend. I'll show it finished, soon! I can't stay seated and machine quilt for very long, so I will be sewing binding by hand in between stints at the machine....works for me! We have 28 gals taking part in the New Years Eve UFO countdown, and if we all make our goal, it will be 127 quilts, etc, finished!!

Happy Birthday to your daughter from me also! 8-)
Fall is my favorite time of year. I enjoy feeling the wind in the air, the smell of Fall, and all the wonderful colors before the leaves fall. It is also my favorite time to go to the water's edge... I'd say the beach but people would think me nuts! 8-)
Happy stitchings on those UFOs Finn!

I'm so glad to hear that you are going to the baptism - extra cuddles with little Haily Marie will surely be the order of the day!

Happy b-day to your daughter. Thanks for inspiring me to get a few things done. Your scrappy four patch in the right hand corner of your blog gives me yet another idea of what to do with all the scraps I just cut up. Appreciate all you do.

How nice that the kids were playing in my backyard! My Cousin, Lee Radzak is the site manager at Split Rock...there is a very nice quilt shop nearby too, actually, a couple of them! I am sort of between Pattison State Park and Two Harbors, in a round about sort of way, lol.
